Stargate: Voyager

Well, it might as well be. Stargate: Universe will feature "mostly young and desperate explorers, thrust together and far from home." You see, "What starts as a simple reconnaissance turns into a never ending mission, as the Stargate Universe crew discovers the ship is unable to return to Earth, and they must now fend for themselves aboard the Destiny. The crew will travel to the far reaches of the universe... [and fulfill] the Destiny's original mission."

Who says there's a dearth of original ideas?

Actually, the press release makes it sounds more like Space: 1999 to me. Voyager was able to control where and when she went, though she was stranded on the other side of the galaxy.

It's not that far from the plot for Lost in Space, actually...which was sort of based on Swiss Family Robinson, if memory serves me correctly. So whoever is developing this show can find ample precedent, that's for sure.

Voyager's premise was always heralded as awesome, it's the execution that left something to be desired for some. So it's not too surprising that it would be copied somewhat.

They wanted to make Yoyager's mission more like Kirk's, stranded far from home, with little or no Federation contact. Not wandering around the Alpha Quadrant.

F that they stole on eof my fan fiction ship manes, Destiny. :scream: Bastards:lol:. Oh well, anyways yes it does but it also sounds like the first season of Atlantis only on a ship.

And I thought the 1st season of Atlantis was the equivalent to Voyager. Granted, they went to the Pegasus Galaxy deliberately, not knowing when they could re-establish contact with Earth.

That's like being send on a mission to the Delta Quadrant after Starfleet had captured a Borg transwarp coil. And one of Voyager's primary objectives would have been to acquire another transwarp coil so that they could return home.
