Starfleet's (new?) hiring practices and standards.

Janeway didn't have much to work with when she decided to turn rebel scum into line officers with shiny boots, but she did it. Best crew in the fleet some say. For this success Kathy's like akin to the second coming of Tony Robbins surely? And like the original, after he found a formula that guaranteed success, that could turn abject losers into captains of industry and action heroes, you would have to think that Starfleet owuld have to consider replicating the regiment?

Will Starfleet start inducting "mercenaries" or "criminals" who learn and gain rank on a work scheme, rather than a four year course at the academy... Not that some couldn't argue that isn't what the enlisted crew serviceship is defined to a nutshell?

Janeway turned moldy bread into penicillan just think what she could do with Neelix - a much more highly complex collection of protoplasm than bread!

A couple Vidiians would've helped the Doc in sickbay but might've cramped his style - woiuld have given Paris more time to play on the holodecks. An arc with the doc and Denara Pel that lasted longer than what we got would have been nice - and think of the medical advance they could've teamed to create. But he had a bit of a Pygmalion complex - first Denara and his holographic wife and then Seven - he seemed to have a need to mold women - not interested in taking 'em as they came - kind of like Starfleet training . . .

He needed to mould women? You're playing to a theme this week. ;)

If he had kept the wife program running, and it had been running during a lengthened Denara tryst, well would that have been an interesting cat fight as each insist that they were his "real" love of his s(t)imulated life?

remember how he was Jonsing about the medical applications of that Borg arm? I could see him making a droid helper out of Borg Parts which would have stayed on board fr about 5 seconds after Janeway "saw " it and "spaced" it.

off topic - yes I AM the queen of the non-sequitur - I thought it strange how fascinated Dctr was with the Borg arm. He had access to all kinds of non-invasive sub-dermal tech and he wanted to cut things up! Sometimes a sharp shiny thing is just too fun to pass up on!

The Denara vs holowife would've made for a great BIG LOVE in space - he always got some of the most interesting story arcs anyway!
