Starfleet Design - 2399

Shhhhhhhhhhh!

Seriously though, those TNG PADD's were so completely overtaken by real life tech that seeing a real one given a cover to "downgrade" it to TNG specs with far less usuable screen is kinda funny.
Overtaken certainly, but it's still kind of amazing that we call the most successful real world equivalents of PADDs "iPads". They could have been called almost anything else, but we still got a "Pad".

What's funny though is that 7 inch tablets / iPads have had rather niche success (who remembers the Nexus 7), and those are the size of the PADDs most commonly seen in Star Trek. In the real world, the full size 10 / 11 inch tablets have had the most success, and those were fairly rarely seen in Star Trek, and mostly in just the later seasons of DS9 / Voyager / movies.

Yeah, especially with the tendency to do stacks of PADDS.

Regardless, I see little common between the real world tablets and PADDS beyond basic concept.

How many smartphones these days have sizes nearing 7"? A lot!!! My A71 is 6,7 inches for example. We use more (almost) 7 inch 'PADDs' than we do bigger ones. ;)
