Starfleet Calvary

Nowhere Man

Commodore
This is my first time posting in this thread, I'm sure some of you have seen me before. I am not an artist at all, but I've always wanted to create my own Star Trek art. I hand drew this picture and took a picture of it on my phone. I created it about a year or two ago. Basically, what I was going for is a combination of the TWOK uniforms and old US. Calvary uniforms. It would be prior to TNG, but after Star Trek 6 I guess. I have tried in the past post images on here before , but it didn't work, so I finally got a Flickr account. The color schemes of the uniforms would be according to TOS, so red=engineering, yellow=command, ect.. Now I know the actual drawing sucks, but I just wanted share it anyway. Here goes nothing.

Cavalry. Interesting design.

Sorry, I couldn't get the code to work, I'm not good with computers. The reason I came up with this is because I was writing a paper for school about the Buffalo Soldiers. I started thinking,"what if there were a Starfleet Cavalry out in deep space protecting new colonies and fighting off hostile aliens? So while the big E is exploring and what not, the USS. ____ (I haven't thought of a name yet) is out there as a defense and protection.

I also came up with an idea for a scout ship that would, well, scout for hostile aliens and search for new places to set up colonies or whatever. It would basically be the Apollo capsule with nacelles attached, but big enough for maybe 4-5 and not so cramped and it would have windows. I guess it would sort of look like the Phoenix, but without the missile. I haven't drawn it up, but that's the idea.

flickr should give you the image code to link your pics. If it's like photobucket, you just copy the code into your thread post.

I had the idea that the big fighters we saw in DS9's Sacrifice of Angels would be like Starfleet's cavalry, similar to the main battle tanks that are todays cavalry.

I'll have to go back and rewatch that. Thanks for the input.

The Scout Ship/Runabout I was describing

It is essentially a runabout, but Pre-TNG era. It has a deflector dish on the nose, torpedo launcher on top, 5 front phaser turrets, two larger phaser turrets on top that rotate, window/view screen, a dome on top, impulse engines in the back,. It seats four, has bunk beds and small Enterprise like quarters. Has a small area for a sick bay, small transporter pad for two, and a small galley. The capsule detaches in case of emergencies and basically can be guided to do a "water landing." It also has three landing struts.

I wrote a fan fic set during the dominion war involving the "new" starfleet Aerospace Cavalry, or Aero-Cav, back in 01 or so. They were a part of the "system hopping" campaign of starfleets's.

Basically the primary fleets were focusing on fleet to fleet engagements and hitting primary systems, skipping smaller or less strategically important to the overall mission. One admiral felt that it was a bad idea and pitched this "clean up" force which would hit these systems. They had operations platforms made from unused galaxy saucer frames, which would be warped into system, saucer sep, and the propulsion ship warping out. They also had deployable outposts made from old enterprise class primary hulls and avenger class frigates that would be "dropped" onto planet surfaces and use their ventral phasers to clear the landing zone and fuse the outpost to the planet surface. Primary vessels were "big birds" which were derived from runabouts and came in two flavors, fire support which were equipped with a full sized torpedo launcher and about 20 photorps, and troop transport, which carried a squad of aero-Cav troopers. They also had little birds which were the shuttles from star trek five, sort of a hue like multi role transport, and "nats" which were the small 2 man shuttles seen in voyager.

They had special uniforms too, basically their duty uniform was a FC/DS9 grey with a TWOK turtle neck and rank strap on the shoulder. Their dress uniform was a grey version of the TWOK monster maroon.

I guess my idea is similar, basically it would be like yours, dealing with lesser known Federation outposts or colonies. It would protect colonists on their way to knew colonies and basically function as the real cavalry did, but in the new, final frontier.

Thanks for your input.
