Starfleet Academy, who here has read it?

Saul

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Has anyone here read the script or could shed more light on it? It sounds like an interesting piece of work especially now with a movie that goes back to an earlier time in the career of Kirk and Spock. Did the Academy Script involve the Kobayashi Maru test? Were Kirk and Spocks parents in it? What Enterprise was in it?

Thanks. But still looking for even more details. Did a sript ever turn up online?

According to Memory Alpha, it was actually called Star Trek: The First Adventure, not Starfleet Academy.

...Not to be confused with the Pocket Books novel Enterprise: The First Adventure and the SFB novel Starfleet Academy, respectively. :vulcan:

I'm sort of strangely satisfied that we didn't get a "young hellraiser Kirk" story, because we already got a "young hellraiser Picard" one. The idea (and "Where No Man Has Gone Before" implication) that young Kirk was a shyish bookworm is a much more entertaining one... Doesn't mean I wouldn't love to read whatever was written on this movie project, of course.

What Star Fleet Battles novel?

"Starfleet Academy" by Diane Carey is a novelization of the licensed Interplay computer game, set squarely in the TOS movie era. Nothing whatsoever to do with the semi-licensed SFB.

"Academy: Collision Course" (2007) by Shatner and the Reeves-Stevens.

I still don't get why any of the characters should or would know each other before being on the Enterprise. Is there only 1 academy that they can go to? That should be one really big place. Also, they're different ages, they'd be there at much different times wouldn't they?

Indeed there are more academies than the one in San Francisco. However one might speculate that there are a reduced number of command colleges.

Thanks for the interesting replies. If anyone had this I'd love to make some kind of trade on it.
