Star Wars: The Old Republic anticipation thread.

New trailer for SW:TOR

here is the link...

I'd play this assuming I can get a computer that had the ability to run such a complex game.

But, just as a cinematic thing, this has the true feel of Star wars the prequels should have had, despite still relying too much on lightsabers instead of story (as RLM would have said).

Re: New trailer for SW:TOR

We do have a TOR thread in here. ;)

That said, Jennifer Hale in a BioWare game? Shocker! :p

At least she's not doing that craptastic faux British accent thing. I guess it's been lost over the generations.

On related note, anyone besides me suspect Satele has Revan blood? I mean it says in her bio that she is a direct descendant of Bastila and who else would've Bastila had a kid with? Every time I've tried to bring this up at swtor forms I get ignored or hushed.

Nope, she still does it, depending on which character she's voicing.

Yes. The plot writers of Star Wars: The Old Republic, and the authors of the tie-in novels also had this same "suspicion". ;)

Interesting.

I haven't really paid attention to the side fiction. I picked up a used copy of Fatal Alliance. I found it pointless and boring and gave up after about 40 pages. I haven't even bothered with any of the others.

I started reading Revan yesterday, after it was released. It picks up two years* after the destruction of the Star Forge and the defeat of Darth Malak, with Revan and Bastila married and living on Coruscant.

I'd say that "suspicion" is pretty definite. ;)

(* This timeline seems not to line up quite exactly with previous dates. KOTOR 2: The Sith Lords said that Revan left for the Unknown Regions one year after Malak's defeat. Oh, well; hardly the first time that there'd be some discrepancies in SW history!)

They can't, and they aren't. It's part of SW history, and researching Malachor V and the Exile (who has a name now!) forms a large part of at least one chapter in Revan. Hell, Atris appeared in that chapter too. I believe one of the historical archive videos on SWTOR.com deals with the Jedi Civil War as established in KOTOR2, as well as the Exile, too.

Oh, and since I am a little farther into the book now...
Bastila is pregnant when this book starts. Setele is definitely a descendant of Revan.

Continuing a conversation from the DCUO thread (since it's off-topic over there), I finally got my beta code from BioWare. Now I guess they're going to e-mail me when it's time to get started. Awesome! :D

Did you receive that one directly from BioWare, or through one of the code hand-outs that they're running with sites like Massively, GamesRadar, and Penny Arcade?

Just so everyone knows... Anyone who was registered on SWTOR.com prior to November 11 should receive, when we get closer to that time, a beta invite for one last testing weekend. BioWare has stressed that using a code from one of those other sites, however, might "break" a person's account and leave them unable to use the direct invite for that final testing weekend.

I have mixed feelings about getting in another beta weekend. I want to play again, but I don't want to spoil too much of the low-level content before the game comes out.

At this point I think I am more anxious to learn when the early open begins so I can start on a main character.

Luckily (or maybe unluckily) I have been really busy, else I would start obessing. <30 days until early access starts!

It's been known since around the 4th of this month, based on the posting date of the article I linked above. I don't think I had heard about any confirmed early access periods prior to the beginning of this month.

A couple hours ago a dev stated via Twitter that anyone registered prior to Nov 11 who uses one of the codes that various websites are giving away will still be able to participate in the testing weekend, despite the initial statements from BioWare that doing so could jeopardize one's ability to participate.
