star wars the force unleashed 2

Never been too fond of the Vader voice they use, although Kane's Yoda is OK.

I wonder what the timeline placement will be of this game. There hasn't been a post-ROTJ game since 2003's Jedi Academy, so maybe it'll be that.

Awesome.

The timeline will inevitably be between A New Hope and Empire. The first one was set just prior to Ep IV. Starkiller looks exactly the same. Vader and Yoda are still alive. Makes sense.

Also allows for some cool possibilities to tie into the main storyline. For instance, what if the cave on Dagobah is the site of a battle Starkiller and Yoda fight against another Sith Apprentice candidate? I don't believe that battle was ever definitively covered. Even if it was ... overwrite it.

I'd also like to think maybe the other Yoda speaks of isn't Leia, who has zero chance of taking on Vader and the Emperor. A still conflicted Starkiller is a much better other.

^ The origins of the Dagobah cave has already been covered in the EU. A couple of hundred years before the Clone Wars a powerful Dark Jedi was killed and his energy infused the cave. That was part of the reason Yoda chose the planet to hide on as the dark energy helped mask his presence in the Force.

I wonder who the main bad guy will be, it would be a bit samey to have to fight and defeat Vader and the Emperor again. Maybe an Emperor's Hand, they could work in Mara Jade in if they wanted to. Or the Inquisition would be a good opponent, they are probably the next most powerful dark Force users after the Sith Lords in the Empire.

Lucas could give a shit about the EU, as has been proven again and again. He just erases what stands in his way, good or bad. He approved Rebel Alliance formation in TFU 1. Hell, he's allowed Anakin/Vader two apprentices when absolutely nothing in the films (or any of the previous EU) indicated he had any.

The EU origins of the Dagobah cave can be rewritten in a flash. You could tweak it such that the Sith's death at the hands of Starkiller in the cave, while Yoda was chillin' on Dagobah, gave him the idea to hang around and hide from the Empire there. They nixed the immediate Yoda/Dagobah link in Ep. III. He doesn't have to have been hiding there for twenty years. Or maybe the Dark Side cave wasn't hiding him at all and it was simply the planet's massive life signatures doing the masking.

I dunno why Lucas just doesn't state there is the movie universe and then everything else is the What If Universe instead of putting it in one big mess of a Expanded Universe.

A vast majority of fans are more inlcined to purchase Star Wars products if they think it's actually part of the "official story," myself included. If everyone involved is at least attempting to be consistent, you don't often have to worry about getting attached to a story element only to have it vanish or be spun into something completely different when a new author steps in. The overall story never ends, essentially.

Course, this also runs into the danger of cementing ideas in the IP that suck balls (NJO, for instance, various Travisties).

I'm not too shocked that they're coming out with a TFU 2, how many really actually believed that Starkiller was really dead? C'mon... pffft... besides they re-released TFU1 this past Christmas, that alone told me that a sequel was in the works even then. They don't re-release games like that unless they're planning a sequel. Usually they'll bundle it with something else - like they did with the "Best of Star Wars PC" set where it gave you Empires at War, Republic Commando and I think KOTOR, as well as Battlefront. So really yeah, this doesn't come as a shock.

I'd love to see what Yoda was doing during those 20 years. I always did doubt he just sat in a cave going nuts.
