I love the Jedi wearing clone armor, I think its a great visual. I wish they wore it in ROTS.

Somewhat off topic but I wonder if it's made of lightsaber resistant material?

Well since it does look very similar to Darth Vader's armor, if it's made of the same material I would have to say probably not, since Luke's saber had no problem penetrating it in ESB. Though it would probably stand up reasonably well to a glancing blaster bolt, should they fail to remember that they're Jedi and can deflect anything short of a full on barrage with their lightsabers, in their sleep.

^^This is surprising? We already have Jedi and droids with English accents, clones with New Zealand accents, Neimoidians with faux-Japanese accents, Weequay pirates with vaguely Mideastern accents, Kit Fisto with a Jamaican accent, Jar-Jar with whatever the hell he has, and so on.

I loved this ep!!! Great fun and the first 5 minutes was amazing. Who cares that it didn't make sense. It was action filled and a blast!

yeah, like how'd they nearly crash into the sun when the mass-shadow of the stars should've dumped em out before they got that close?

where was the rest of the crew of Aayla's ship? there was her, Bly, Rex and like 4 other clones as well as A&A on the escape bird. WTF?

why didn't Yularen put the resolute between the droid ship and Aayla's shield-less cruiser for protection?

how in the hell did the escape ship go to hyperdrive that deep into a gravity well? (see point cf mass shadows)

I can probably help to answer half your questions by pointing out that the ship was damaged and malfunctioning.

:wtf:

You WERE watching "Star Wars"......right?

You DO know that, don't you?

Seriously.. we Sci Fi nerds take ourseleves WAY too seriously. It's a show. have suspension of disbelief and enjoy yourself. Not everything needs to be grim and gritty.

Looking forward to next week. I hope to see some bad ass lightsabers in action!

I definitely enjoyed it. Of course I didn't expect Aalya to do a purring French accent...but I won't complain :D

Definitely finding the series is beating my expectations overall and this was another good episode.

Finally saw it and I very much enjoyed it. I rememeber when Aayla's character first appeared in the comics and I was thrilled to see the character getting a starring role here. I'm glad she made reference to her master, even though Vos wasn't mentioned by name. The only thing that struck me as untrue about her character from the comics is that she had a lot of problems of her own with attachments to her master and even a close friendship with another Jedi.

Thought the opening battle was amazing. The first-rate CGI on this show gets better and better every week. Liked the Lurmen too.

BTW, did anyone think Star Trek when the Republic crusier slingshotted around the sun?

I kept getting an Amber Spyglass (His Dark Materials, book 3) vibe during this episode. Whoever wrote it is either a fan of HDM or read it once upon a time and is "borrowing" from it, subconciously or otherwise.

Seriously, the giant trees with the big pods dropping off which contain a useful oil, the peaceful (but intelligent) animals who use the pods and the oil, and roll about as their means of transportation? I kept expecting Aayla to make a spyglass and Asohka to go off and save the universe by losing her virginity.

I'm sure she went the usual route.

If I were George, I'd be checking her shelves for Phillip Pullman books and calling the lawyers. ;)

Holy crap, that WAS right out Dark Materials. I completely missed that.

Yeah, I read an article after the fact that it was written by his (I believe teenage) daughter Katie Lucas. Interesting. Of course that same article (Newsarama) said it was interesting to pair Aayla and Ashoka since they're both Twi'leks. I had a total geek rage at this and started bellowing out loud ASKOHA IS A TOGRUTA LIKE SHAAK TI!!! which really confused my GF :D

Well, wasn't that the point? As I recall, what she said to Ahsoka was that she'd been through her own difficulties with attachment and had to learn to let go.

yes, and it was completely inconsistent with the novels depiction of both hyperspace travel and starship combat tactics.

Despite Lucasfilm's claims that the novels represent some kind of pseudo-canon, in actuality Lucas pays virtually no attention to them and never hesitates to contradict them when making new filmed material. Plenty of stuff from the books and comics has been ignored or contradicted in the past, going all the way back to the late-'70s Marvel comic whose story was about Obi-Wan, Luke's father, and the young Darth Vader on a mission together.

And of course Star Wars was never intended to be a rigorously consistent, believable universe. It's a fairy-tale adventure dressed up with outer-space tropes.

Well, admittedly, to the uninitiated it would be easy to confuse them, since they both have those "head-tail" thingies. However, it was very sloppy of that Newsarama writer to fail to do the research, especially when it's so easy to find reference material online.

I suppose I meant based on her book personality, she should be a little more like Ahsoka and less like Luminara. A tough Jedi but a less less harder than what she is portrayed as when it comes to these subjects.

BTW, did anyone think Star Trek when the Republic crusier slingshotted around the sun?

I sure did. I didn't think there would actually be a time-traveling twist in the episode (has Star Wars EVER done any time-traveling stories?*) but, yup, totally thought Star Trek IV.

*Frankly, I'm kind of glad the show didn't go there because time-traveling always seems to create too many contradictions/storyline headaches.
