Game Star Wars Squadrons

Breaking my rule and buying this upon release as I fear the player base will be gone by the time I would normally buy it. The only other game I play multiplayer is Rocket League so this should be interesting:D. Anyone else getting it?

I am quite interested but first wanted to get a decent HOTAS stick and the one i want (Logitech X56) is sold out everywhere except on Logitech's own site but it was about 260€ (and i'm not paying utopical Ebay scalper prices, i've seen one for over 1000€!) so i wanted to think about it for a few days more - turns out i waited a few days too much as it's now sold out there too :brickwall:

So i will wait, read up on some player experiences (also a bit burned in the past by official reviews) and then revisit my plan.

I have it on pre-order, I normally never do that - but I did it for Fallen Order too, I didn't regret that that was an awesome game, will hopefully feel the same with this.

I was surprised it would be that cheap, only 40 Euro so i bought it off Steam and installed it.

Since i have no decent Flightstick i had to use my gamepad - it was ok but you just don't get that pilot "feeling" you have with a decent Flight Stick/Throttle so after the intro mission i put the game away until my Flightstick choice becomes available again so i can play this ( and Elite Dangerous and War Thunder and any other Plane/Spaceship Sim) decently.

Judging from those few minutes even with a gamepad the game seems not that complicated - flight controls are standard, you can even manage the power system decently with the D-Pad and so far the options don't seem to crowded.

Looks decent enough even for my older PC system.

Still beating myself for not ordering the stick a few days ago - had everything filled out and just needed the final mouse click but i cheapened out and now i'm paying for it.

I was able to play the game ahead of release, it seemed a good fit for my space sim preferences (i.e. more on the action-y, story-heavy side)

My EA ID is Mildly Irritated Max (I think, I've never used EA ID for friends before) or wayoung@hotmail.com if it is your email. My steam friend code is 109876496 if anyone wants to try joining up.

Warning though:. I really suck at this.

? Ok. You don't need an Xbox/PS4 to use one of their controllers on PC. Microsoft makes specific PC Xbox controllers and PS4 I'm pretty sure you connect via Bluetooth. Do you play every game kbm?

I have PlayStation and Switch, but use PC for XBox/PC exclusives and games I think my RL friends will want to multiplayer. But my PC probably won’t make recommended specs for new games for much longer. My gaming PC was a COVID purchase. I do not have anything but kbm for PC, but the others I’ve played are stuff like Divinity: Original Sin 2 and other tactical turn based.

I will look into the PC XBox controller.

Since you have a PlayStation you should be able to connect your dualshock to your PC via Bluetooth. If your computer doesn't have Bluetooth (which is rare unless you built it yourself) you can get a Bluetooth adaptor for it for dirt cheap.

VERY interested in trying this game, though I may have to wait a while since I'm still running Windows 7 and this seems to be Windows 10 only. Which seems a little odd considering BF2 ran just fine...
I know I probably should have upgraded a few years back, but everything I hear about W10 makes it sound like an awful pain in the arse (same reason I stuck with XP when Vista came out and 7 after 8 was a disaster.)

Incidentally, I've never owned an XBox in my life, but I've had an XBox for Windows controller for over a decade and it's perfect for a lot of game types that don't handle keyboard and mouse well (I think I initially bought it for Tomb Raider Anniversary.) Never tried it with a flight sim though; I feel like it'd be a little fiddly with the thumbsticks. I suppose it helps that I still have my old Sidewinder FF2 (which, incidentally I bought to play X-Wing Alliance way back when), so the need never really came up.

unless your PC is offline 24/7, you need to move to Windows 10 ASAP for the sake of security updates alone

it's very customizable to the specific preferences of old grumpy sysadmins like myself, you'll see ;)

Squardrons is on sale on Amazon today, $16.99 for the PS4 version and $19.99 for the XBox One version.

I don't know if I could handle playing this one in VR. I was almost getting disoriented just playing on my TV.
