Star Wars: POST-ROTJ new EU canon (possible spoilers)

Branding only changes the cover for the most part. The story remains the same.

First editions usually are out of stock the first year anyway. And a lot the older ones were hardback originally. Second Printing as paperbacks follows and such. Though Eu books have been printed in on form or another since the 1970s. The older Han Solo and Lando trilogy novels have since been compiled into single thick paperback books.

Ok. I will explain this to you. You can find 1st edition books on ebay and amazon. You can literally find anything you are looking for on the internet. Obviously they dont print 1st edition anymore. it was the 1st edition. Consequently, you need to purchased used copies.

Because of the rebranding, I want to get the book. I like getting 1st edition books when possible. No shit the story doesn't change with new editions. i want the 1st edition for collection purposes.

I don't understand how this is a difficult concept to grasp. If someone offers you a free 1st edition lord of the rings, or a brand new copy of lord of the rings from chapters, are you going to take the brand new one, or the 1st edition? One values at $30, and one values at $12000. Guess which one is which.

P.S. Before someone starts debating semantics. It's a metaphor. No I don't think the Thrawn trilogy compares to lord of the rings. Nor do I think it will ever hold the same value.

I don't understand why your reasoning leads to this since your original question was if they were going to take the EU stories out of print entirely. To basically make them not exist. (burn them)

The answer was, no, they will still exist, just new prints would get a "Legends" label. It had nothing to do with collector's since collectors collect regardless or if things are in or out of print. So I don't know how you got there suddenly.

Way to change your argument. Discontinuation, or Legend. Either way, original unbranded is going to be unique. "In other words, buy a whole bunch of the Thrawn trilogy". That's how I got there. You must be fun at parties. I want 1st edition because I want 1st edition. If you can't use deductive reasoning to figure out why, that's your problem. Worry about yourself.

Does debating about such minutia enrich your life?

Why are you coming across so hostile?

I was trying to figure how the question changed from "will they exist at all" to a statement about "Get first editions" since collectors would have done that to begin with and wouldn't have need to have asked the question since they'd been looking anywhere for first editions or all the possible covers, depending on how much of a collector they are. I mean when I was buying Star Wars novels, I would get them when they came out, so I have hard cover copies when possible. But as I missed them later on (there were a lot of novels coming out at once in the last decade, which made it expensive), than I would make due with whatever was in stock, as the primary goal is still the story over the collection value, for me.

That might be different for you, but that still doesn't explain the hostile tone.

Wulfio, if your concern is not wanting the Legends banner, there are plenty of printings other than the first without that. Most of these books have been in print pretty regularly since they first started coming out in the '90s.
