Star Wars new comic-Knights of the Old Republic War

It looks like they're going to relaunch the popular KOTOR title, but this time focus on the Mandalorian Wars which happen between the comic and video game series. Basically they take place some 4000-3000 years before the films (The upcoming Old Republic game however is closer to the movies)

The Mandalorians, for those who might not know, are the warrior race that Boba Fett's armor came from (and by extension, Jango Fett and the Clone Troopers). They feature prominently in Star Wars Expanded Universe fiction, although the "Clone Wars" takes a different approach then the novel/comics/games do, for the most part which has led to some controversy.

Sounds cool, though I must say that the Old Republic stuff currently out isn't that close to the movies, even though the look of the video clips seems like it is in the Clone Wars (at least) timeframe. I read once that that was the fault of the designer(s) who didn't realize the game took place thousands of years before the movies.

The current Knight Errant comic book series is closer to the movies than the Old Republic, and KE is like a thousand something years off from the movies. In any event, the Knights of the Old Republic comic was one of the best things to come out of Star Wars recently and I'm looking forward to seeing a continuation of the book. I hope it is better than the comic's Legacy's truncated "War" miniseries.

I enjoy the KOTOR stuff but the timeframe is insane. It's like technology stands still for thousands of years in the Star Wars universe.

The TALES OF THE JEDI series which takes place around the same time actually used fairly archaic ships and stuff, more organic looking technology and a more ancient feel (With Egyptian/Babylonian influences). One ship was even a giant wasp corpse!

But the Knights games pretty much threw that out for ships that wouldn't look out of place in the films.

Bioware and its staff has a nasty habit of dismissing anything that they don't like as evident by the newest Revan novel.

Please elaborate. Will the events of the novel not have an impact on Bioware's plans for Revan? I'm looking forward to reading that book.

The novel is written by one of the Bioware writers. In it he does a hatchet job of taking apart and invalidating parts of Kotor2 especially stuff relating to the Exile.

The novel isn't out yet. It hasn't yet been proven that anything has been invalidated regarding the Exile.

The spoilers were confirmed by the writer.

Really, people? You're going to let a very biased 3 paragraph "summary" of a 300 page novel be your basis for judging the book? Seriously, read it for yourself before you decide KOTOR 2 was retconned, because I strongly disagree with this interpretation.

I never played KOTOR 2 so I don't care if it was retconned or not. I really liked DK's Bane trilogy so I am looking forward very much to reading his take on Revan.
