Star Wars moments?

The ships going to warp drive - just puff, gone. Very Star Wars-like.

BTW, I liked that and I agree with pookah that Lucas borrowed extensively from Trek.

I posted this in its own thread but didnt get much attention.

I am sure that there was a Star Wars sound effect in the scene with Kirk and Spock phasering their way through the Narada. Not just one phaser shot sounding a bit like a Star Wars blaster but one phaser shot being the exact same sound effect used in Star Wars. No doubt a little in-joke but in by Ben Burtt.

Aside from it being a prequel film about a farmboy heading off into space to do battle with an angry bald man dressed in black, with tattoos all over his face, a penchant for running people through with his futuristic pole weapon and a nasty tendency twords blowing up peaceful planets, nothing too noticeable.

ah so considering kirk was from iowa then star wars took that from trek too??

;)

bald guy with tatshmm perhaps an unknown ancestor of nero.. why he really wanted to wipe the floor with kirk.
:p

I seem to recall TIE fighter blaster noises in TFF and TUC as well? Watch the scene when Kirk and McCoy beam away from Rura Penthe, and that Klingon warden fires his disruptor at them.

The new film did indeed have Star Wars-esque moments. The scene with the destruction of Vulcan and the fight on the drill with melee weapons reminded me of Wars.

Nero was a mix between the tatooed badassness of Darth Maul, and Shinzon from Nemesis. Seriously, he reminded me of Shinzon.
