STAR WARS: LEGACY to end with issue #50

[Skywalker]

John Ostrander's next Star Wars project is Agent of the Empire.

Set during the time of the Galactic Empire, prior to the events of Episode IV A New Hope, the new series focuses on an Imperial intelligence agent whose undercover assignments take him across the galaxy to exotic locales, filled with danger and intrigue. Ostrander describes it as Star Wars, with a touch of James Bond and the Bourne series.

Ostrander says that it's set around 3-0 BBY, and they're aiming at making it kind of a series of miniseries. The main character's name is Jahan Cross, a loyal Imperial operative, and he has a droid sidekick/assistant (feminine programming) called IN-GA 44.

Ostrander has also said that he is working on another project with Jan Duursema (yay!), but it isn't Legacy. That's all he's said about it so far.

I don't know, I just hope Del Rey never gets its hands on the Legacy era. They've already wrecked the post-ROTJ period, I don't want to see them ruin Legacy, too.

To some extent they've already started, at least with dropping hints in the Legacy of the Force series and in the novel Crosscurrent, that took place concurrently with that series (I think). I'm sure that we will get more references in future books.

That's the thing--nobody knows what it is. Randy Stradley--who oversees Dark Horse's Star Wars line--has mentioned that the project will be "worth the wait" and will be vindication for those who believe that he wouldn't just cancel Legacy without something to replace it.

I remember reading an interview last year with Ostrander saying that Legacy War would be the finale of the franchise.

Legacy: War is the finale of as far as this particular chapter of Star Wars is concerned, but of the franchise? I wouldn't put any money on that...

The simple truth is that we don't know what this top-secret project the Legacy team are currently working on. We do know, however, that it isn't Agent of the Empire, but it could otherwise be anything, including something that takes place immediately or a number a years after Legacy: War, IMO...

I didn't mean the finale of the Star Wars franchise, I meant the finale of Legacy.

I do think Legacy: War concludes Legacy, but I really doubt we've seen the last of this era.

I certainly hope we haven't seen the last of it. Legacy is now the "present day" of the Star Wars universe, and I think Ostrander, Duursema, Randy Stradley, and everyone else involved with Legacy did a fantastic job of creating an interesting era that still has plenty of potential to explore.

And, considering its popularity, I'm sure we will see more of it.

I agree. I hope that Legacy War is not the finale of the series. One of my problems with it though was how long they prolonged Cade accepting his destiny. I understand that they had 50 issues to work (whenever that decision was made to end the series then doesn't matter) but to drag it out that long and basically five issues deep into the mini-series seems silly to me. I get what they were doing with his character, but still was stupid.

I think the Legacy folks thought they had more than #50 issues to tell their story and when it was cancelled, I think they rushed a bit too much. I wish they had been given how much ever time they needed to let Cade organically come into his destiny and not just shoehorn it in.

I think War left open the possibilities for more adventures in this time frame. But there's nothing stopping them from making a new 'present' timeline by going even further into the future.

I wouldn't mind seeing another Skywalker anyway. I wasn't the biggest fan of Cade. I have to give it to the people behind Legacy because I stuck with the book even though I didn't like the main character. The universe they built around him was just that interesting.

Cade was all right. I liked him enough from the start. Syn and Blue were decent characters as well.

To each his own, I never warmed to Cade. He was such a jerk. However, I liked most of the supporting cast. And it's for them and the world built around them that kept me reading.

Yeah, Syn was cool. I liked when he tried to deny he was flirting with Cade's mom when that's what he does constantly

Then again, Cade's mom was an interesting character. Nat Skywalker also had some nice moments as well.

I liked all of the characters, to be honest. Cade was kind of obnoxious at first, but I thought he got better as the series progressed. Syn was cool from moment one, though.

So, should Cade be the last Skywalke?.

I am personally down with that.
