Star "Wars" in Star Trek?

Considering that George Lucas did survive during the Eugenic War and all those somewhat alternative history of Trek Universe, would Star Wars exist as a franchise in a Trek universe?

Of course talking about Prime Timeline here, because we have "seen" that Star Wars do exist in Kelvin Timeline thanks to Double J.

I would like to see what you guys think.

I think it would emphasise the hokey elements of Star Trek if Star Wars, Stargate, Doctor Who etc existed as fiction in it's world. They all draw from the same pool tropes: Plotlines, human aliens in iffy makeup, abysmal space physics complete with sound.

It would be like if in The Orville, when they're doing their standard retelling of a Trek story, someone called up the episode they're redoing for the solution.

The Millennium Falcon helped fight the Borg in the battle of Sector 001. That’s all I recall.
R2-D2 seems to randomly show up in some places as well.

One thing Trek has always done right (haven't seen Discovery) is not referencing contemporary pop culture except in time travel episodes to specific years. In the Trek universe, we see the pop culture of the 50's and early 60's as its most recent references and that pretty much saves the show from judging contemporary culture and messing it up.

Been awhile since I've seen any of Stargate SG-1 but, IIRC, the Star Trek TV series are referenced by the characters = so Trek is fiction in the Stargate Continuity. Of course, I suppose that doesn't necessarily preclude the reverse where Stargate would exist as fiction in the past of Trek continuity.

Yeah, Stargate does reference Trek. As does Doctor Who (which crosses over with it in comic books), Farscape and others. They're much more tongue-in-cheek than Trek, so it works better, IMHO.

A display in Picard's ready room during Up The Long Ladder mentions a Earth starship being sent to the planet Alderaan in the year 2135 (if I'm remembering the year correctly). This wasn't just some background display, the camera lingers on it for several seconds, time enough to read it.

There was another use of Alderann during DS9, but that was a difficult to read background display.

It would be easy to imagine a future real world colony being named Alderaan, and a fictional Trek Human colony bearing that name could indicate that the Star Wars series of movies exist in Trek's fictional past.

IIRC, it was actually part of Ibudan's itinerary, which gets a massive close-up for several moments.

Apparently, the name Alderaan was in the early drafts of Lucas's saga, what Alderaan was changed over time, but the name was constantly there.

From my research, Lucas just made the word up.

Star Wars doesn't exist in the Star Trek universe.

Star Crusades, on the other hand, a movie about wars that happen in the stars, in which a boy from the desert uses the great power of the universe to destroy a giant spherical space station, and had lots of sequels and prequels, exists. It's one of the most popular holodeck programs. It's exactly like Star Wars, except everything is slightly different.

That would be difficult, though, since SW takes place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away--where they probably didn't get NBC back in the sixties.

SW in STAR TREK is a whole other story since we know science fiction exists in their past. Why, I hear Lucas only invented STAR WARS because he couldn't get the rights to CAPTAIN PROTON.

Ah, but if one accepts Alien Exodus into headcanon - as I gladly do - then that problem goes away.
