Star Wars Fate Jedi 3: Abyss

Mr Light

So I finally got the third hardback of the Star Wars Fate of the Jedi series from the library. This one is by Troy Denning who wrote some of the better books of the NJO/LOTF era.

Good news! This one was good!

The second book was an abomination, only 250 pages for a hardback, nothing happened, poorly written...

This one definitely advances the plot. The main villain finally gets introduced and it's a very interesting concept. Can't wait to see more! There's good humor, it's never slow... definitely recommended. Unfortunately this one is only 317 pages which is still pretty short.

It's a shame they didn't just combine book 2 & 3 into one normal sized book, cutting out most of the do-nothing in #2. But I once again have high hopes for this series! Of course I'm one of those kooky nuts who really enjoyed LOTF (aside from the last 1.5 books).

I like that Daala was named Chief of State...instead of being the out and out Big Bad she's given more depth and forced to work with the good guys. I have this book on my shelf for the next two weeks from the library. After the abyssmal piece of trash that the previous book was I've been putting off reading it. I'm currently reading Star Wars The Clone Wars No Prisinors which features a younger Gil Palleon. I'm really enjoying No Prisonors...Rex is awesome in this book.

Nothing much happened with Daala in this one. As for her being the boss, the original idea is asinine and out of left-field but it puts the characters in an interesting situation.

It maybe asinine true...I wasn't a big fan of it when I heard it was going to happen at the end of the war against Jacen but then I thought it would be interesting to see how she uses the power and works with all the characters. She's already alienated the Jedi Order along with the Skywalkers, weakened their leadership. I would have rather seen the old Daala as leader of the Imperial Remant. I'm just curious if we are going to start seeing bridging to Star Wars Legacy soon or if there is even a plan for that. I'm starting to get tired of the current status quo in the EU.

Yeah I know...it looks like it is Jaina and Jag's successors then. Not sure how it could have been otherwise.

I particularly loved how badass Luke was at the end. For NJO and much of LOTF he was such a pacifist pansy, to see him slicing and dicing Sith without mercy when he's half dead and wasted away was pretty cool.
