Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

The trailer looks pretty good, the Falcon has a hologram now and it sounds like the OT is now ancient history. Some of the scene look darker than what we got in the prequels and I like how subtle the music was. And it was nice seeing Leia and Han hug, just as nice seeing Poe and Finn together.

Looked awesome. Still told us NOTHING about the plot of the film but that's fine.

The only thing that looked back to me was Kylo Ren's mask and costume. It just looks... cumbersome and goofy and fake. I hope it looks better on film. I've been worried about the way he's looked in the photos for awhile no... he's no Vader.

Looks like the trailer gave away what the final battle at the end of the film is going to be.
there was a shot of X-Wings and TIEs fighting above the ice planet with a massive open trench visible in the planet's crust. Thanks to the movie poster released yesterday we now know that Starkiller Base is the planet itself literally opening up to reveal the firing mechanism inside. So basically it's a recreation of the ending of New Hope, with the rebels desperately trying to prevent the Imperial super weapon from firing in time.

Also, I was really thrown by Rey saying "there were stories" and Han saying "it's all true, the dark side, the Jedi..." Why the hell would that be just a myth to her? Unless Jakku is an Imperial held world and they're continuing the propaganda machine to erase the Jedi from public knowledge...?

I found the lack of excitement in this trailer.....disturbing. The slow pace of the music used did not match the action on screen and so took away all its energy. Just missing something in its pacing. The shots were all nice and a little story came through but not the powerful spot I was expecting.

I really enjoyed the trailer. The various scenes were cool, and the music actually got me pumped. I would have liked to have seen some Luke, but I didn't really expect to. This movie really can't come out soon enough.

Perhaps the New Republic downplays the Force after Endor as well, considering it was the source of the Emperor's power. I haven't read any of the new EU so I have no idea.

I am still skeptical that Abrams is just redoing A New Hope, like Bryan Singer redid Donner's Superman.

Seeing all the hype reminds me of the ancient internet of 1998-99. I hope TFA does not fall victim to the same thing that TPM did; namely, being so hyped that no reality could possibly match it.

EDIT: It does look good though, don't get me wrong.

Sadly I have to agree, but I liked the music. Maybe something more bombastic might've been a better choice.

I think I won't watch the trailer. Less then 2 months to go, why spoil any more.

I hate 3D and I wish it would go away but sadly until they have a new premium thing, this is what we have. And its what is going to be the opening movie big thing. Case in point: I want to see this movie in IMAX. I don't want to see it in 3D. I don't think the two things are mutually exclusive any longer in most circumstances. My fiancee and I have seen one flick in 3D IMAX this year -- Avengers 2.

You sound like the people who were against color and sound being added to movies.
Color and sound added to the movie experience. 3D doesn't, it distorts the image and you have to wear uncomfortable glasses to see it. If people want to see it then fine but give other people a choice not to. I don't like paying for something I don't want to see.

Great looking trailer. I wonder if Kylo Ren is Luke Skywalker?

The thought had occurred to me, however, now that I have seen this trailer, I'd wonder why Luke would feel obligated to "finish" something Vader started.

Someone at Reddit suggested that Kylo might by Han and Leia's son. Being Vader's grandson might be motivation.

Luke being evil would be a lot of fun... at first. It really wouldn't make narrative sense in the end though.

For me, the trailer was mostly a series of cool visuals without much to latch onto except for two things: Han's "It's all true..." line, and the score (the rendition of Han & Leia's Love Theme was incredible). So the film certainly looks good. And I can't wait to get my hands on the score.

Looks like there's another superweapon in play though...not that it's discouraging me from seeing it....but the poster and a shot from the trailer seemed to intimate that....I saw the trailer from a distance with no audio.... so the poster speaks more to the notion.

Exactly this. Plus 3D can give me headaches. Which really frustrates me because the only screening I could get tix for my fiancée and I was for a 3D show on the 17th. I'm going to see what I can do for something else.

Still, that trailer made me very happy. :)

Simple. The Prophecy has NOT been fulfilled.

The death of the Emperor, as the trailer makes abundantly clear, hasn't fixed anything. The whole galaxy has been at nonstop war for DECADES. Civilization is starting to descend to Blade Runner/Mad Max levels. No Jedi, no Sith, no (apparent) use of the Force at all since Endor, and nothing's getting better. It's time to hit the reset button and restore balance to the Force (and, by extension, everything else), and Kylo - whoever he is - feels he's the guy to do it.
