Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

New poster revealed at D23:

The most interesting part of the poster is of course Finn holding a lightsaber.

And not just any lightsaber - Luke's, and his father's before him! The Anakin and Luke Skywalker lightsaber will now have appeared in all three trilogies!

Is this a Drew Struzan poster for the film or by another artist with a similar style?

Yeah, I just saw that confirmed on Facebook. It's a special poster created specifically for D23 and there'll be another, official movie poster released at some later date. Still, it looks amazing.

Struzan is one of the best ever.

STAR WARS LAND?

YESSSSSSS!

I'll take Star Wars Land over that shitty Avatar Land ANY DAY! :D

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The NO BRAINER that was a SW land is FINALLY coming to the US parks.

And in other news: Company decides there's profits in lemonade stands in the Sahara Desert!!!!!

SOrry but when you start making shopping lists in your mind and bolt from the cinema as soon as you think the film's over - they were in a hangar or something and I was like, that;s me done! - you KNOW, for yourself, it's a waste of time!

I'm also intrigued by what seem to be black eyes on Rey. And the red shapes...does this mean we'll see Bespin?

Not TFA related exactly, but they are announcing right now at D23 the new Star Wars themed areas they are building at both American Disney parks. It will be 14 acres wide! One attraction mentioned allows fans to "take the controls of the Falcon". I got this from a live blog of the "Worlds, Galaxies and Universes: Live Action at the Walt Disney Studios" presentation, here.

ETA: Article on official Disney parks website, including concept art.

More details on Disney's Star Wars expansions.

Star Wars Launch Bay will take guests into the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with special exhibits and peeks behind-the-scenes, including opportunities to visit with new and favorite Star Wars characters, special merchandise and food offerings.

...

Season of the Force, a new seasonal event beginning early 2016, brings new experiences to both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts. In Tomorrowland at Disneyland park, guests will explore the Star Wars galaxy with special entertainment throughout the land, themed food locations and more. Guests also will also climb aboard Hyperspace Mountain, a reimagining of the classic Space Mountain attraction, in which guests will join an X-wing Starfighter battle. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests will close out weekend nights with a new fireworks spectacular set to the iconic score of the Star Wars movies.

Also, Star Tours will get some TFA content added, and the interactive stage experience Jedi Training Academy will be "reimagined with a new experience that includes new characters and a new villain to battle" from Rebels. As far as who the villain will be for the JCA, I'm thinking it has to be one of the Inquisitors.

Those are X-wings. X-wings on the left, TIE fighters on the right.

Desert planet on the left, space on the right.

Yeah, desert planet. You can see a moisture vaporator.
Not the part I meant.

If it is the Force is strong in the Skywalker line...than the line would go through either Luke or Leia. Not Han.

Lando and Leia? He was a smoothie that one.

Or Finn might not be related at all

He could be a manifestation of the force. Hence the title "the force awakens

Well, there are several things I want to comment on but I'll not waste time finding all the quotes:

Regarding the prequels, I don't hate them and they didn't ruin my childhood. As the quote goes, "They didn't ruin my books; they are sitting right there." I can treat the OT as something separate, if it really bothers me.

The PT is more disappointing because it had so much potential and ruined it. Too bad, in my opinion. I don't lose sleep over it. I have no trouble explaining why I don't like it or why I rate them the way that I do (AOTC, TPM, ROTS).

Regarding the poster-interesting bits with Skywalker's saber, moisture vaporator, and the (apparent) Bespin steps, though I'll have to look and see if the Emperor's throne room had a similar set up. The lights were similar on the elevator.

Also, I thought Struzan retired after Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but I could be wrong. Have to look that up.

Regarding Episode 9 director-Trevorrow is a fine, almost workman, director, that Disney will be able to guide and direct towards what they want from the film. He clearly did that with JW, and I think that he will only get better with more experience.
