Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

The new South Korean TV trailer features a momentary glimpse of a never-before-seen camera angle from the massing of the First Order Stormtroopers on the ice planet. Here's a really good screencapture that I just found on Facebook:

Is it me or does that look fake?

Not saying it is, just.....the trooper outfits look wrong and also why the hell does S. Korea get something like this before the rest of the world?

Oh well, shouldn't complain - we get TFA essentially on Wednesday 16/12/15 - a day before the US -and YES, I will repeat this until you're ALL sick of hearing it, especially since I had to wait SIX MONTHS for ROTJ in 1983!!!!!

[Dr. Zoidberg]Maybe a massed army and that kind of thing plays well in South Korea?[/Dr. Zoidberg]

And if you squint hard enough, you actually CAN see Adam Driver's ears in the far standing figure!

The official launch date for action figures and other toys from The Force Awakens is midnight on September 4th and that's less than a month away. To date we've seen images of almost none of the toys and collectibles based on the new movie with the major exception of the 6" First Order Stormtrooper figure in exclusive San Diego Comic-Con packaging.

I'm not covered by an NDA, though I probably should be as I'm having to deal with this exact issue as a professional matter this week. That said, I will tell you that I will not be at all surprised if Disney doesn't release any images of any products, even to retailers (who would like to know what they're buying and stocking), until Force Friday.

The whole thing looks fine except for those two Stormtroopers in the foreground. Their helmet are massive, and they appear to be wearing parachute pants. Are we sure this isn't a screencap from the "Spaceballs" sequel? :p

Wait until Marcia's dead.

Actually, I guess that doesn't matter now, since George isn't in charge!

George holds what is quite possibly the only remaining extant and usable print of the theatrical cut of the first movie, which is his Technicolor dye transfer print. I doubt he's handing that over anytime soon.

I don't know whether that's true or not - what I do know is that if it's possible to squeeze dime-one out of such a release Disney will find a way.

I already posted this in the action figure thread but I figured I'd post it here too: Pics of 6" Kylo Ren and Finn have surfaced
