Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

I think most of it is a bunch of bull.. someone taking pieces of pieces and blending it with concept art, mixing in one or two things that might be true, with other things that aren't true, and they drink a can of Red Bull before tying everything together.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

And there are some things, like a certain new feature on Chewie, that were part of the original concept but apparently dropped from the final film. Which makes me wonder if any of this is truly legit.

Apparently dropped?

Well if only because the on-set spies would have almost certainly mentioned it in their reports if Chewie had a whole new look. Or so the reasoning goes.

As for random people Sydow could be from the past? What about Anakin's friend from Tatooine? Kitster. That would be random with a Sith connection. He'd be about 70 in this film.

Kister was fairly dark-skinned - I can't see them replacing him with the pale Max von Sydow. Same reason it can't be Boba Fett or Mace Windu.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Those rumors sound pretty good..

So who will Max von Sydow's character be?

Mostly cyborg. Big revelation on the third act, but not earth-shattering. Not villain, not good guy. Sith connections. Existing character from prequel trilogy, but not Boba Fett, Darth Maul, or Mace Windu.

Who else is there? Dooku? Would they recast the character while Lee is still alive? With cyborg it would be enough for Lee to do the voice. General Grievious? Definately not earth-shattering revelation if its either one of them.

Trying to think of other significant, but not too significant, PT characters.. How about Bail Organa? Would definately have a reason to protect Leia's daughter, basically his grand daughter. But he probably wouldnt have Sith connections unless its something to do with how he survived the Death Star.

My first thought was...
Sifo-Dyas, but then they say that the character is not Force sensitive. Perhaps he lost his Force ability? Maybe it's somehow related to the way the Force has changed in the film?

But otherwise, he would fit great. He's Human, von Sydow's about the right age, he had a connection with the Sith (Dooku was his friend and he was an unwitting part of the downfall of the Jedi) but is not one, was strongly precognitive and could have predicted and thus faked his death, worked with the cloners on Kamino so he could have a fake clone body to put in the crash of his ship for Dooku to recover, would be significant to hardcore fans but not to general audiences like they say, and would be a Prequel-era character with a reason to be fascinated by Force and Jedi related artifacts. And he could have been hurt and required the use of the cybernetics while being discovered during the Jedi purge and hunted down.
It's the only name I could think of that would fit most of the parameters mentioned in the spoilers but still be a name of significance to fans and possibly to the story.

Otherwise, the only two people I could think of would be...
Chancellor Valorum and Cliegg Lars, but they'd both be exceptionally old (although the cybernetics could sustain them), and serve no real purpose to bring back. Plus, why wouldn't you just use the original actors? I don't picture Valorum living like a hermit anyway. Lars lived on Tatooine, had a Sith connection through Anakin, had already lost a leg so might have some other cybernetic body parts by then too, and would feel some loyalty to the main characters.

The following structure, which was released through some leaks, is actually in the trailer, in the distance.. Daisy is heading for it.

And that design is also based on old Ralph McQuarrie artwork made for the Original Trilogy, possibly connected to the development of Jabba's Palace for Return of the Jedi.

That looks very much like something, Ralph McQuarrie painted for RotJ. I believe it was the entrance to the grounds of Jabba's palace in that picture.

For all of the JJ haters I think he'll deliver a solid film - especially since Kasdan wrote it.

Abrams had/has co-writing duties.

And even if it doesn't makes sense, Cortosis, baby. Can't cut through that.

Yeah, it stands to reason that some lightsaber components are made of materials like phrik which can't be destroyed by the beam. The weapons used by Grievous' guard droids were made of it. Just assume the whole thing is made of phrik.

I imagine the first Sneak Preview action figures and other toys will hit retail by next summer or fall at the latest, and images will leak onto the Internet before then so we'll have a much better idea of who's who and what's what by the time the New York Toy Fair, Celebration Anaheim and then San Diego Comic-Con hit.

I must be officially getting old, because I seriously do not understand this trend of recording your reactions to stuff. There's even a commercial for a new phone that lets you record your reaction in a split-screen with the thing you're actually recording.

Say huh?

It was only moderately funny even when something as notorious as "Two Girls, One Cup" first hit the Internet. I get the concept and I'm glad those fans are happy and seem to be having fun watching it, but it just doesn't do anything for me.

Yep, count me in too. Of course all these people making these look at me videos are younger than I but i'm glad to not be part of that generation.
I get funny ones like Game of Thrones red wedding but videos of people watching episodes and trailers and basically screaming their heads off so much that they miss half the fucking plot does not register with me in the slightest.

Yeah it's one thing to capture someones genuine reaction to something. But a lot of this is clearly people just amping themselves up and massively overacting for the camera.
