Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

 that was great. What's especially funny is what he's saying makes perfect sense! It's one beam split 3 ways not 3 seperate beams! You can't slice through the side beams!

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Star Wars technology doesn't always make much sense....except when it accidentally does.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

And even if it doesn't makes sense, Cortosis, baby. Can't cut through that. Turn off your lightsaber if you do, cause there is no try.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

If you wait long enough, most sci-fi/fantasy technology begins to make sense. Or at least it seems that way if you're nerdy (or high) enough.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Those rumors sound pretty good..

So who will Max von Sydow's character be?

Mostly cyborg. Big revelation on the third act, but not earth-shattering. Not villain, not good guy. Sith connections. Existing character from prequel trilogy, but not Boba Fett, Darth Maul, or Mace Windu.

Who else is there? Dooku? Would they recast the character while Lee is still alive? With cyborg it would be enough for Lee to do the voice. General Grievious? Definately not earth-shattering revelation if its either one of them.

Trying to think of other significant, but not too significant, PT characters.. How about Bail Organa? Would definately have a reason to protect Leia's daughter, basically his grand daughter. But he probably wouldnt have Sith connections unless its something to do with how he survived the Death Star.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Gotta love how people never miss a chance to slam Abrams.

The film is dystopian and darker than Empire. Some 30-40 years have passed since Return of the Jedi, and the Empire and New Republic have been locked in a war of attrition. Everyone is languishing and sick of the war. The script, which is described as "too good for JJ Abrams", begins in space, above a desert planet -- presumably Tatooine.

After a near decade of abuse, if I was Abrams, I'd essentially do what Orci did and tell the haters to fuck off.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

If even half of those details end up being accurate, this could be the greatest Star Wars movie in at least 35 years.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Anyone know a good website for listing different types of lightsabers?
I used to go to thelightsabers.com which was a good one but it's gone now.

I totally agree. Those were very exciting spoilers. I really, REALLY want them to be true. The movie the spoilers described sounds awesome, and it would definitely be a worthy sequel.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Star Wars sounds mysterious, menacing and exciting again. It's been a while.

Agreed. For all of the JJ haters I think he'll deliver a solid film - especially since Kasdan wrote it. At this point I think at least for me is to keep my expectations reasonable.

Last weekend for example, I was horribly disappointed in Mockingjay - went in with super high expectations and was bored and devastated by the films end result.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I don't think I've ever been so hyped for Star Wars movies. I got to see the prequels in theaters, but I was a little over 8 1/2 when TPM came out, so while I liked SW my Nerdiness hadn't risen to the level to appreciate it as the event it was. After that movie, I wasn't super excited for the other prequels after TPM, for obvious reasons. But, now I'm an adult nerd and huge SW fan, and there looks to be a SW movie that's going to live up to the original trilogy coming out in a year. Its a great (but also painfully slow  ) time to be Star Wars fan.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I'm taking it with a huge grain of salt, but that does sound potentially amazing.

There IS some really cool stuff in there, but it also sounds like every story rumor we've heard so far crammed together into one package, with a lot of other stuff guessed at from the concept art.

And there are some things, like a certain new feature on Chewie, that were part of the original concept but apparently dropped from the final film. Which makes me wonder if any of this is truly legit.

4chan is generally not the place I'd look for quality spoilers.

As for random people Sydow could be from the past? What about Anakin's friend from Tatooine? Kitster. That would be random with a Sith connection. He'd be about 70 in this film.

Apparently dropped?
