Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

My guess is that even if Disney and Lucasfilm don't officially release it online this weekend it'll still show up on YouTube and other websites, so it probably won't take too much effort to track it down and watch it even if it's just a fuzzy smartphone recording that gets pulled down within a few hours. But if they're smart they'll make it officially available so that fans don't have to resort to tracking down a bad, blurry copy on the backwaters of the Internet.

Wow. This is both the most ridiculous and most badass thing I've seen in awhile.

I am really not happy with the way that ended.
Honestly, the fight shouldn't even have lasted as long as it did.
They gave some level of explanation as to why it did at least. More plausible than most of these crossover fights. It wholly underestimated Batman's tendency to over-prepare with contingencies stacked on contingencies. I also don't remember ever seeing Vader use the force to such extent or so effectively. We saw him strangle people (slowly) and throw small things around as a distraction when fighting Luke, and that was really about it.

This decision to release the trailer on limited screens is simultaneously brilliant and idiotic. I have a feeling it will turn into a snafu, especially if leaks get out.

I'm a true Star Wars fan, and I live - at minimum - two hours away form a theater that is showing it. My money should be as good as anyone living in LA or NY. This is wrong.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

The released the very first teaser for Episode I nationwide in addition to airing it on television that very same weekend. The Episode I teaser received a level of national and international exposure many full-length films never enjoy. I can still remember the media hype surrounding its premiere 16 years ago this month.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Anakin's Theme in that film was rather boring in the end credits. I think I was the only one left in the theater as the credits ended for The Phantom Menace. I was hoping for more from the score, like the previous three films, but it never quite rose up...at I thought it wasn't, until something quiet played near the end that caught my waning attention. I didn't think I heard it at first, then it played again....Darth Vader's Theme. Then finally at the end it plays again, quietly...followed by the breathing. At that point I figure the setup would be enough. Darth Vader was coming and there was nothing that could stop it. It was a "you clever bastard" type moment.

Ah, so much hope and promise. Alas...

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Speaking of Episode I, to this day the deleted scene where Artoo uses his booster rockets for the very first time has never been restored even as a feature on a bonus DVD or Blu ray disc. For those unfamiliar with the scene, it was at about the same time that Qui-Gon and Anakin have their nighttime talk about the Force and midichlorians on the Coruscant landing platform. Artoo gets knocked or falls off the platform and saves himself by activating his booster rockets and returning to the platform.

The Episode I action figure of R2-D2 featured these booster rockets but they were never seen in the actual film nor in any deleted footage released to the general public in later years. It's one of the only Episode I deleted scenes I've heard about yet never seen.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I always assumed that Padmé and her forces didn't know who he was and were thus reluctant to open fire on a stranger with (to her) unknown intent. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan recognized who he was and promptly stepped in, but his appearance happened so quickly that none of the Naboo forces had time to raise their weapons.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

The best thing about that moment is that all of Padme's people (all of whom are armed) stop dead in their tracks just looking at him. Even in the middle of a desperately dangerous situation, it's like they're all taking a moment to say "What the f*** is THAT?!?"

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

It helps build the mystique of the Sith. This is the first time a Sith has been publicly seen in one thousand space years. Given the legends and the dread of their invincibility, I certainly wouldn't want to be the one to shoot at him and earn his wrath! Plus he would just redirect all the shots back at them.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Who would be prepared for huge metal doors to slide open right in front of them and then see this glaring straight at them?

Holy crap. In that still image you can totally see how fake and glued on those horns look.
