Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

You just knew the second that teaser shot was described, people out there were going to be creating their own versions.

Only problem with this one is from this angle it's kind of hard to make out as the Falcon unless you're a diehard fan. I imagine the real version will be much more instantly identifiable.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Whomever made this did their homework, but they just didn't have the chops to pull off the most convincing of clips.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Really? A movie this big, and they're premiering the teaser in only 9 theaters?

At this point I'm actually hoping someone leaks it early and Disney is forced to release a proper version online like they did with Avengers 2.

It is smart actually. You'll notice the premiers are IMAX theaters only where ticket prices are higher. Disney/Regal is betting that avid Wars fans will pay extra to go see just the trailer. Also, there will be a much wider release of the trailer on 11.28.

The interesting part at least here in Atlanta is that the Regal IMAX theater where this trailer will sho is playing Mockingjay which is produced by LionsGate film studios and has no affiliation with Disney. So the only one that will benefit is LionsGate and Regal.

Regal must have ponied up a lot of $$ to have this in their theaters to Disney.

The thing will be all over cable news, entertainment channels and the Internet by this coming weekend so it really won't matter if most Star Wars fans don't see it on the big screen this Friday. I imagine the vast majority of us will have seen it by this time next week and there'll already be entire webpages set up to lecture the fanbase on why the movie will either suck so hard it could swallow up a black hole or it will be the greatest film since the original Godfather.

But hey, the first new Star Wars teaser trailer in almost 10 years! That's awesome no matter how limited the official release.

^^^ For me this becomes a no-brainer. I was planning to see Mockingjay anyways - I'll just head to Atlantic Station and see it on their IMAX screen this coming weekend.

Yup, can't wait to over-analyze the hell out of this thing. :D

Hmm, not really sure what to make of this latest spinoff rumor. On the one hand I love the idea of a SW movie revisiting and recreating the ANH era (and even the possibility of seeing a certain giant weapon again)... but I'm not so sure about the kind of story they want to tell, or the protagonists being used for it....

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

We know one thing for sure:

It's going to be a far better sequel than Speed 2.

Yeah, yeah, I know, even a violent intestinal flu when you're nowhere near a public restroom is better than Speed 2 but you get the point. J.J + the Star Wars Universe + Kathleen Kennedy + the classic OT cast = a certain level of Epic Win no matter how good or even great the film ends up being.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

What a 1990 way of doing things for Disney. When they committed to making Star Wars just another franchise (a new movie every week) they stopped trying to make it special. It's 2014...the trailer should be debuting EVERYWHERE.

Marvel knows its audience and the audience it's trying to reach. They wouldn't pull crap like this. Star Wars needs to embrace the new technology to keep up in a much, much more competitive entertainment environment.

That sounds awesome to me. It fits in nicely with what we already know, but it's also throwing in a nice unexpected curve ball. If it's true, I'm on board.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

In spite of some posted comments to the contrary on other websites, I'm all for and excited about the idea of an Obi-Wan standalone film (or even films) with Ewan McGregor returning to depict the character during his twenty-year exile on Tatooine. Ewan was one of the best things about the Prequel Trilogy and he's said more than once that he'd gladly reprise the role if somebody asked him to, and I think it'd be awesome to finally see some of the things Obi-Wan was doing in the years before he became the crazy old hermit who looked like Sir Alec Guinness. :)

I have a bad feeling about this...

Re: rumors of what the spin off movie is about...

I'd be very surprised if this was true. All we ever heard about was a solo character film. Boba Fett, Young Han Solo, Yoda, etc. But a Death Star Plans Heist movie? That's outta left field. I wonder which one of the seven EU versions they'll use? ;) It's certainly an interesting premise but I hope it stars at least one existing character. It sounds a lot like the Tim Zahn novel Scoundrels.
