Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

It's a glorious moment in franchise history to be a Star Wars fan.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I wonder what a cross beam lightsaber is though.

^^^Thanks, but I can't quite see the advantage in having a lightsaber like that.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

There was a visual spoiler leaked on Star Wars Underworld that
the main villain who is possibly a Sith Inquisitor or enforcer wields a lightsaber that has two smaller blades emitting from the handle that point upwards in opposing directions much like the blades on a fully-extended Klingon dk'tagh

Don't know if that counts as "crossed blades," but if the visual spoiler material is indeed true then the new villain's weapon will be quite different in appearance from all previous Sith or Jedi lightsabers.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Congrats on the production team for coming up with a lightsaber design fans thought of ages ago. :p

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

At this point coming up with a truly original and fresh idea for the franchise has got to be extremely difficult, because the six existing Episodes, The Clone Wars, its feature film, Rebels and all the older EU animated series, books, comics and graphic novels must have tried a little bit of just about everything since the late '70s. But different is different even if the fans thought of it years ago.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

The trailer description sounds a lot like the AOTC "Breathing" trailer, which was actually pretty cool (The fact that it had no dialogue certainly helped ;)

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

We don't need "kewl" gimmick lightsabers.. just a return to what made Star Wars so great.

Congrats on the production team for coming up with a lightsaber design fans thought of ages ago. :p

^^
"It's too new!"

"It's not new enough!"

Behold the dilemma of anyone trying to continue the Star Wars Saga. ;)

It's a glorious moment in franchise history to be a Star Wars fan.

Right there with you, dude. :techman:

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Seems like you'd have to be a LOT more careful swinging around a lightsaber with extra little blades coming out of the hilt. And every time you held it up close to you, you'd always have to make sure everything was pointed in the right direction so you didn't accidentally stab yourself in the chest. Lol

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

It's a good thing Darth Maul was an expert with his double-bladed lightsaber or else he wouldn't have had to wait until the end of the Battle of Naboo and for somebody else to slice him in half. One half-assed and badly-trained apprentice swinging one of those things back and forth and all of a sudden there are a lot fewer Sith or Jedi in existence than there were just a couple of hours before.

All the lightsaber design talk just makes me think of this:

The Inquisitor from Star Wars: Rebels rachets the insanity up yet another notch by taking Maul's saber and adding a puree function.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

One of these days I hope to see a Sith with light brass knuckles.

Never underestimate the EU's ability to get really, really, really stupid.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

You know, at that point I think it'd be easier just to use a blaster.
