Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Rogue Nation still doesn't come out until the end of the month, so I guess they won't promote Rogue One all that much. But a big screen they likely have.

Wouldn't the opening crawl count as a clip? I guess they could just show it as a still, or just the text and get around the no clip thing.

While I have a lot of faith in the creative team behind it, I have yet to think of any compelling reason why we need a Han Solo origin story.

Maybe Abrams has betrayed the fans. we're seeing a lot of prequel stuff in the so-called 'canon' Marvel comics (Coruscant, Bail Organa, really?) and Andy Serkis will potray the Weta effect as Supreme Chancellor "Snoke". (Snake and smoke....really? IS this some Weaboo Metal Gear solid BS?) and the beautiful Lupita Nyong'o (Lupita NO!) is now the new Jar-jar binks as some CG pirate Captain.

The influence of George Lucas on this man is apprentent.

It doesn't have to be a Han Solo origin film, just a major event worthy of film. Rogue One is the tale that involves the theft of the Death Star plans that were central to the first film. Maybe the Han Solo story is the Kessel Run that took less that 12 Parsecs. Or what Han did to earn the price on his head from Jabba the Hutt. Could even be the same event.

Did anybody watch the "Droid Tales" cartoon? It was cute. I was surprised they covered two movies in one half hour! It was also interesting to see how they openly ragged on Phantom Menace and Jar-Jar. Kids love that movie :p Oh, and the "mysterious stranger" was clearly visible as Lando

Going crazy with special effects and CGI happens too often when a director is given too much creative freedom. Ex. Peter Jackson and George Lucas. Should be called the Lucas Effect.

Prequel fans were ragging on the creator on twitter and he assured them the OT gets targeted in the later episodes.

That's the same thought I had after watching this. The Phantom Menace Jokes were a little harsh; So much so that it turned from a fun tribute to an insulting parody very quickly. We get it. Jar Jar is unpopular and the taxation of trade routes can be confusing to some.

It's the kind of stereotypical crap that endlessly pops up in fan circles (Hello) but we shouldn't have to be subjected it by the very companies that have been entrusted to preserve it's legacy. You would think with the amount of money Disney and Lego are sucking out of the franchise they would treat it with a little more respect.

Otherwise, the rest of the episode was kind of lackluster. They glance over and skip past so much material from the movies that you wonder why they even bothered in the first place. It's like watching the cut scenes from the video games. Also, these things have been pumping out for so long now that most of the jokes seem to rely on previous jokes. The only one I picked up on was Darth Maul jumping around yelling "Awesome", And that wasn't even that funny.

C- For effort
F+ For re-enforcing the negative public perception of TPM by making overly apologetic and crass jokes about it.

I ran both the Universal Translator and a protocol droid fluent in over 6 million forms of communication on that post.

I got nothin'.

Drop us out of hyperspace and check your instruments. Looks like we've entered the mysterious void known as the TEH BABA Sector.

Well..... yes and no. Directors like Jackson and Lucas are visual story tellers. They like to advance the story and convey emotions through visual effect. Not so much special effects, but certain angles, lighting effects and such. However, with the advances in CGI, it does give them a new tool, and they like to use it. Sometimes to good effect, sometimes not.
