STAR WARS ebook discussion & comments

It's going to be awesome. They are finally moving away from the Big 3.
That's what was supposed to happen ten years ago after The Unifying Force, but Del Rey decided to backtrack then. I hold no hope that they won't do the same thing again.

I have to wonder how much that decision was influenced by Lucasfilm? Lucas had already altered their plans by wanting to get rid of Anakin Solo and the entire NJO saga also killed off other charismatic Jedi, and didn't do a good job of establishing worthy successors to the Big Three. Jacen was gone after LOTF and Del Ray has seemed skittish about allowing Jaina be more central to the plots. And they've sidelined characters like Lowbacca and Kyp Durron. So I wonder how much Lucasfilm and Del Ray both have led to the Big Three remaining prominent? Also, the fans as well.

Alllston said that SW has to be about Han, Luke and Leia in a Celebration panel or something so i would probably blame the authors.

Authors can be quite influential if they write for a franchise for a long time + Del Rey only cares about the money.

Why do you think that? They brought a new writer in. Knight Errant had to do well because they are not going back to Han Luke and Leia stories.

When I first read the Jaina news earlier today, I immediately became very excited. Then I read that Golden would be writing it, and I immediately lost all of that excitement.

Yeah, that's the only negative bit. I hold out hope though it will be good. The "Rebels" books sound interesting as well

I like the idea of the Rebels books, but i am, bit uncertain about the Jaina one because of the era with COS Daala and all that crazy nosnsense. Let's hope they just send her into the Unkown Regions.

The Triumvirate was indeed temporary.

After Luke and Ben Skywalker returned from Luke's exile, Grand Master Saba Sebatyne relinquished the title to Luke, who then withdrew the Jedi Order from Coruscant and the Galactic Alliance. In so doing, the ancient Force entity known as Abeloth, in alliance with the Lost Tribe of Sith, seized control of Coruscant and, thus, the Alliance. The Jedi and "rogue" elements of the Alliance armed forces ultimately defeated Abeloth and the Sith.

By the end of the Fate of the Jedi series, the Jedi had been exiled from Coruscant and the Alliance, and Wynn Dorvan - who had previously served as chief of staff to Daala - was elected Chief of State.

Yeah, it does sound pretty cool. I'm shocked we haven't gotten more post-ROTS/pre-ANH Obi-Wan stories.
