I just got finished reading the live Newsarama coverage from the "Main Event" from Celebration V the interview Jon Stewart conducted with George Lucas and a couple of surprise Star Wars Clone Wars announcements came from George himself the biggest and maybe most controversial and interesting one was that....we will see
Darth Maul's BROTHER who Lucas said will be trained as a new apprentice for Count Dookus as Ventris falls out of favo
r

Also George's daughter wrote an episode where Baron Pappadonina and his family fight! He also confirmed that they started writing episodes from season five. It will be interesting to see when this stuff is officially announced or maybe addressed by Dave Filoni in his panel which I believe is later today.

Re: the spoiler:

"Ewoks is a derivation of where we live, it's an old Indian vilage site, the Miwok Indians."

Huh, I've heard about the Miwok my whole life, and never made that connection.

Jon: So what I take from that is Jedi CAN have one night stands.

Righteous.

Yes sir the one and the same. The Clone Wars Season Three Live panel just happened to and they are planning a lot of stuff. They confirmed what I stated in my post as well.

"Ewoks is a derivation of where we live, it's an old Indian vilage site, the Miwok Indians."

Huh, I've heard about the Miwok my whole life, and never made that connection.

I heard this a long long time ago (maybe dating back to the original release of ROTJ) though I don't know if it was "official" or just from people who live in N California and got the connection, especially given all the "redwood forest" scenes, which is the habitat that the Miwok lived in.

A funny moment occurred during the fan q and a where a kid asked Filoni if there were any plans to see characters like Young Han or Chewie in Clone Wars to which Dave brought his trademark fedora over his face and mumbled you're killing me here kid and the kid responded don't hide what's inside and Seth Green who was there ran up and gave him a high five!

Also there is a significant plot involving Ventress connected to the spoiler in my original post and we learned what that character's name is as well. I would highly recommend checking out the panel transcript as it's on newsarama's homepage at the moment.

Why does it have to be Darth Maul's brother? Why can't it just be another Force-sensitive?

Christ, SW is incestuous enough with all the "Gasp...Darth Hangnailious was my Nanny!" and Count Dooku commissioned the original run of YT-1300s that spawned the Millenium Falcon and the Emperor actually dreamt up the idea for the Death Star while drunk, doodling on a napkin one night at the Mos Eisley Cantina.

The SW galaxy is filled with quadrillions of people. Everyone and everything in the story doesn't need to be so intimately related in some twisted ouroboros of the Six Degrees of Salacious Crumb.

I don't really care what his excuse is, I'm tired of the ever-shrinking SW universe, but I'll venture a guess that it either involves the new lightsaber practice dummy having a grudge against Obi-Wan for bisecting his bro, or perhaps, Dooku wants to eventually use the guy against Palpatine and the story of Sidious throwing Maul away like an old chew toy would be good motivation to help him there.

Whatever the reason, it won't be good enough to justify yet another brother/son/uncle/third cousin of a film character popping up to make SW seem that much smaller.

^ So you won't be watching this season then I take it? It's explained that Ventress is given Savage (that's his name) and told he is the brother of the famed Sith Lord Darth Maul. Dooku though will attempt to use Savage as a means of showing his continued disappointment in Ventress. It is also worthy to note that Ventress finds Savage on her homeworld and embraces someone she refers to as "Mother" and the clan is the Witches of Dathomir.

I'll watch. I'm not surprised we're seeing more of the Maul family personally and they broke my estimate (I thought that they'd bring a Maul relative in in Season 4).

^ That is the part that was confusing....either the person reporting got it wrong or they have retconned her homeworld.

It seems somewhat muddled... one of the transcripts says that Savage is "from Asajj Ventress' home planet", but Maul was supposedly from Iridonia.

And then there's this:
newsarama transcript said:
Collins: There's something unnatural about that character as you watch her. Can you talk about Dathomir and the witches as a culture? Are they Force users, or what are they?
Filoni: It is an interesting case, according to George they're not necessarily Force users, they might be something else.

Yeah seems like more of the same from George. I found it amusing when Dave called Lucas their "secret weapon" in regards of creative decisions on the series.

Unless she was just 'adopted' by the Night Sisters? In that way, it could be that Maul and Opress aren't literal brothers, but adopted brothers.

The part about delving into the balance of the Force fills me with dread. I can see that getting very mucked up.

^^ I could see them being adopted given how the reporter typed "Mother" in quotations. I kind of really want to see the mega trailer they showed.
