Star Wars 1x19 "Storm over Ryloth" Discuss/Grade <Spoilers>

I was curious about the character as well- not knowing if he was an already established EU character or somebody created exclusively for the series a la Ashoka. On Wookipedia it shows a picture of him- supposedly from ANH as being in the Death Star conference room with Vader, Tarkin, et. al. It states further that he was an Imperial Security Agent and was blown up with the Death Star. It seems to indicate that, although he was loyal to Palpatine and the Empire, he wasn't one of Empire's more sinister agents. Very interesting.
One thing I've been kind of curious about: Why do most of the clone troopers still have their combat suits (and helmets) on whenever they're aboard the Star Destroyers?
they do have HUDs. the RCs and ARCs have more sophisticated HUDs than the bog-standard meat cans or the Clone Commanders, but a HUD is standard.
Or just maybe the fact that this franchise is called Star Wars.
Here we have a Star Wars series actually called and about the Clone Wars and people are surprised that there are battles?

So, the umpteenth land battle... but this one had a cute kid helping the soldiers out (as opposed to the non cute kid from the last arc). I must say, I'm a sucker for children in war. It's such an easy way out, but it's also impossible to screw up. Having the kid speak in Twi'lek-ese or whatever is a bonus, since you avoid the awkwardness of an adult trying to pretend to be a scared child.

I didn't really care for Part 2 as it was basically about two random clones with a little war orphan. Didn't really hold my attention, and aside from the opening few minutes there weren't any amazing action sequences. I'm also kinda pissed we're not seeing Aayla Secura participate in the liberation of her homeworld! I was looking forward to two things with this arc, a) a recreation of Normandy (which they said it would be in the bonus features on the movie DVD), and b) Aayla. So far neither have happened.
I liked the stuff with the two clone soldiers and the little girl. That was some of the best character writing I've seen on this show, and the girl was excellently animated. The "identical" clones are consistently the most interesting characters in this series.
I liked the critters that attacked the troops in the final act. Interesting design, sort of a cross between a beetle and a raptor dinosaur.

I don't know, the whole war orphan thing was a little on the nose for me. Not that the series is blindingly original, but... the one soldier wants to protect the girl and the other doesn't but the gruff one gets to care about the girl and they get the girl to the parents?
I enjoyed this episode. Terrific action once again and a nice story for the clones.
Some good humor in here too, with one of them suggesting binders to keep her in place. I'm sorry but the droid who complained about having the worst job in the droid army was funny.

Especially considering the irony that he was the only one who didn't get "killed." I guess he reassessed his opinion after that.

I wonder if the Cylon-ish tones of the droid commander was some homage to the fact that his plan used the "Gun on Ice Planet Zero".

I think Obi-Wan actually felt bad for him and let him "live."
So for once we see a competent droid in a command position.

I admit; I laugh sometimes at the battle droids, and this was one of those times.
The plot with the two clones and the kid was recycled war movie pulp cliche...but still quite enjoyable.
I thought the girl was saying "mirror...mirror" at first, since the clones are identical (save for hair style).
They could've really zinged us have the little twii'lek girl's name be "Oola".
Tatical droids sound like b-grade 70's BSG Cylons...whose ripping off who now, Lucas? HAW!
Did want to make one comment about the cliches. I think that this is expected for a Kids show like clone wars. Can't have things get too complicated or grey for these kids. I mean I tried watching 80s transformers again and I go WTF is this shit.
I think Lucasfilms are doing an amazing job I for one will definitely be buying these dvds.
