Star Trek's strongest seasons

TOS 1-2

TNG 3-5: the most consistent streak of quality for *any* Trek show and one of the most consistent in all of tv. Not really one bad episode among the batch with the worst that could be said was the episode was merely average. TNG showed how a show could be episodic but not formulaic with a lot of different episode types ranging from pure high concept sci-fi to alegories to character dramas. This show produced some of the best high concept sci-fi mystery episodes. Lots of good episodes--"The Survivors", "The Defector", "The Enemy", "The Best of BOth Worlds", "Family", "Remember Me", "Future Imperfect", "Cause and Effect", "Clues", "Night Terrors", "Conundrum" etc.

TNG-6 didn't quite make the cut since there were a lot of weak episodes like True Q, Birthright II etc--you could tell attention was being divided between TNG and DS9.

DS9 2, 6, 7: I think DS9-5 is a little overrated. There were a lot of awful episodes like "Looking for Par'Mach", "Let He Who is...", "Ferengi Love Songs", "A Simple Investigation". Some pretty pedestrian offerings like "Soldiers of the Empire", "Empok Nor", "The Begotten" etc.

I love the arc storytelling in S2,6,7. The Circle Trilogy, The Maquis storyline, the Dominion War with two subset arcs with Occupation and Final Chapter. The show really came into its own in those last few years. Season 6 admittedly had a lot of filler and poor stories like "Resurrection", "Times Orphan", "His Way" etc but the arc at the beginning of the season compensated.

VOY-4: probably the show's strongest season if not nearly as consistent as I would like. The addition of a BOrg character by Brannon was inspired and put some wind in the show's sails. Plus we had some nice standalones like "Waking Moments" and "The Gift". I also enjoyed the telefilms.

ENT 3-4:Loved the Xindi arc-epic storytelling with lots of locales, sets, expansive cast of characters, lots of perspectives, thrilling suspenseful storytelling and the Azati Prime to Zero Hour was thrilling. Season 4 told some nice prequel worthy stories.

DS9 Season 4 & 5 (the series went way downhill IMHO shortly thereafter, but season 4 especially was a masterpiece)

TNG Season 3 (everything came together nicely) and 4
