Best warp effect?

I liked it, but I missed the distant flash effect. The rubber slingshot effect was still kind of visible in one scene (from inside the ship, I think), but it was a lot faster.

I wasn't clear on how fast they were able to travel at warp relative to previous incarnations of the series. Did anyone catch that?

The E-D and this new one are my two favorites.

Geeze.

Some of you really are drinking a Kool-Aid aren't you?

ST fans are becoming notorious for not accepting anything new, even if its better.

RAMA

It's just amazing to me that people keep point out little minutia things that were changed for this movie and people are all "OMG I LOVED IT!!! BEST EVA!!!!"

"OH THE STARDATES MAKE SENSE NOW! IT'S AN EARTH YEAR FOLLOWED BY A UNDEFINED DECIMAL!!! I LOVE IT!!!!"

"OH THE WARP EFFECT IS KEWL!!!"

It's getting kind of silly.

No, it really matters. Everything matters--the "new" (actually similar to classic Trek films) warp effect is way better than what we've been seeing--and it makes a difference. Bottom line; the new effect is more fun.

Visuals do matter with a movie-- The warp effect is no small, casual concern for a film about space travel. 4sure. Best Eva.

The warp effect was indeed fantastic. The sound was great, and almost threw me back in my seat when it first happened.

What I also loved was the view from the bridge, looking out the window viewscreen. How the starts trailed (a la Star Wars), but only for a split second.

Very cool.

Very starship trooperish. From the first movie.
