Star Trek XI - VFX Preview

Doubt it. The design's more faithful than I expected, and there's that shaky-cam gimmick.

Exactly. What's supposed to be shaking, and why? Was the computer shaking while the FX guy was working? I call shenanigans.

^Yup. That's straight-up ZOIC-style shaky-cam CGI. It actually looks pretty cool--I liked the sense of solidity that the lighting provided to the ship, and the way the camera tracked it as if from a great distance, but this is total BS anyway. Like J. Allen said, there's no way the CGi is at this polished a stage by now. They'd be lucky to have a few rough animatics finished.

OT: J. Allen, who did your avatar? The artistic style looks naggingly familiar, but I can't think where I've seen it.

I don't buy it because the model looks way too crude. The lighting isn't very impressive, the surface texture is bad.. and the shot is done in a fashion that makes it seem like a jetfighter seen from a chase plane.

Possible? Sure... if it's a "quick test of concept" for the "new" Enterprise. But I don't believe it. Too many other things are being sold as "the real deal" and I honestly don't think ILM is so unprofessional as to let this sort of thing "slip."

When we see the real deal... it'll be done in a VERY PUBLIC fashion with a great deal of fanfare. They'd be STUPID to do anything else.

Fake, but a fair try @ the ZOIC look for the Enterprise that Firefly/NuBSG uses. I wonder who's mesh was used, or if they rolled their own. The Enterprise is too far away to tell...

That would be Dr. Comet. ;)

I will, however, add that if this was an authentic VFX clip and not the fake that it so obviously is, I would have to wonder where the other $149,999,998.02 of Star Trek's budget was being spent.

Because if ever there was a $1.98 video of the Enterprise, that clip you posted would certainly qualify as one.
