Star Trek XI Bridge Diorama

Hi All,

I'm a new to the forum and this is my first post.
If this is not the correct section to post this thread, please move it and let me know. Thank you.

I got this playmates floor mat of the ST XI movie for the Enterprise bridge. Didn't quite like the 2D version.

So I cut it and added some foam core and glue to make it more 3D like:

Added some poster board and paint:

Custom create the rear bridge plexi glasses:

Add rear railing behind the captain's chair:

2 rear consoles painted black for now:

I've finished working on 2 railings for the rear plexi glass and currently working on the consoles next to captain's chair (in front of the rear plexi glass). I'll post pics when completed.

Hope you guys enjoy it. Any comments are welcome. Thanks for looking. :)

Wow... someone actually bought toys from the JJ film, LOL... they can't even get rid of them from the clearance rack at Big Lots in my town, LOL...

In any case, I love what you did with the mat... you really added a lot more depth and dimension to the playset, and made it much more visually interesting. Good work!

Looks great so far. Are you going to do a complete wall surround?

Thanks for the replies y'all. Happy that my work is appreciated. :)

@BolianAuthor: They are actually great figures to display. It's sad that they cancelled wave 2 which would have completed the bridge and transporter playset with the missing parts. Plus now I have to custom made some of the characters.

@Ziz: I am thinking about it. It seems like a big project though, we'll see. :)

Nice work indeed. Since there's been rarely any bridges made from the various series.

Hello. This is my first post here too, and as it was this thread that brought me here, I thought I would start here. I want to begin by addressing the above comment. There have actually been several Bridges done. The first 2 were by Mego; the classic Bridge for the 8" figures and the vacuform one for the small movie figures. There is also a guy who does custom versions of the first one. Then there was the punch out book of the full TMP Bridge. The figures that come with this are 2.75 inches tall, meaning the whole thing needs to be enlarged to work with the figures. I have one and will someday get that done. Next Galoob did a cardboard Bridge for their figures, but it never got past the prototype stage. Finally, Playmates has done 3 versions, the original TNG one, the Classic box set display, and this little gem. That works out to 6 altogether, not bad for the one room with the least play value on the entire ship.

CCC.

Now on to the main event. As a 4" collector I really like this and have planned to do the same. I have not started yet because of my obsession with detail, because the sides do not step down, they ramp down. Still, for a playset I suppose this works out better, especially for the poor figure that would otherwise be sitting at an angle, so thanks for the idea there. I am curious what you used to adhere the mat to the foam core?

CCC.
