Star Trek Wins Casting Award

Congratulations Star Trek! It seems our movie is getting recognition from professional peers. Perhaps an Oscar nod is more attainable after all.

If just one actor was cast differently it wouldn't have been a fit and wouldn't have been nearly as good. It is a well deserved award indeed.

While you're ultimately right, I feel like they could have cast someone else other than John Cho for Sulu and we would have the same result. Don't get me wrong, I'm very much a Cho fan, but Sulu really didn't have much to do that would require someone of Cho's caliber, unlike the rest of the cast (Scotty's mania, Chekov's youth, McCoy's grumpiness, etc etc etc).

I think that in this post TNG TV generation of writing that there might be room for other characters than Kirk, Spock, and McCoy to grow, including John Cho's Sulu so its a good thing they brought in that caliber of actor because Sulu might get more movie time like the characters in TNG did compared to TOS.

Casting is very important. Just look at Transformers. That Megan Fox chick is pretty, granted, but she couldn't act to save her life. She stands out in those films because her acting is wooden and unnatural and she has absolutely no chemistry at all with the rest of the cast.

And yes, the boy did a great job. :p

Megan Fox's talents begin and end with her ass and breasts. End of story. To quote Chris Rock...I've seen more convincing actin' out of Tough-Actin Tinactin. She may be super-nice and sweet for all we know and even very smart, but she has all the emoting skills of a frozen waffle.

Megan Fox was not very eloquent on Scream 2009 either. She can barely communicate with a script; without one she was just plain pitiful.

...and since I don't care at all how a woman looks, this makes her my least favourite actress of all time, I think. She almost ruined Transformers for me.

Oh and btw I've heard she's a real bitch and nobody who works with her likes her. :p

The TRANSFORMERS movies are "meh" or crummy enough in too many respects to start with...for Megan Fox to get outacted by Optimus Prime or Bumblebee is either profoundly sad...or freakin' hilarious.

Like I said, she may be one of the nicest people in the business for all we know and have a heart of gold...but I've seen better acting out of Tom Arnold when he's asleep.

Hey, I never said I went to see Transformers for any reason other than the male lead. I like that boy. But seeing Megan Fox outacted by robots was part of the fun, too, you're right about that. :D

There are other pretty girls out there who can act. She just didn't blend in.

Star Trek XI deserves the casting award. The new cast was brilliant and all of these talented actors made these iconic characters come to life.

Not sure how you can compare casting given that films have such different budgets (though this affects all aspects) and that casting people may have preferred someone who chose not to participate or an actor may have been thought of and by a writer or producer. If it was an Oscar category they would probably award it to the films with the most popular casts, which would benefit films with big budgets.

I liked Quinto, Yelchin, Greenwood and Saldana, but think Pine, Hemsworth, perhaps Bana excaberated their characters' problems, or other actors could have done better.
