Star Trek vs Star Wars

steve1961

Lieutenant
Star Trek is for Adults...Star Wars is for Babies
Star Trek has transporter rooms...Star Wars has Shuttles
Star Trek Has Phasers...Star Wars has Lazer swords
Star Trek Has the Enterprise...Star Wars has X Wing
Star Trek Dozens of Villians...Star Wars has only Darth Vader
Star Trek Has Mr Spock...Star Wars has RD D2
Star Trek Has Aliens look realistic...Star Wars has Aliens that look stupid.
Star Trek Has Captain Kirk...Star Wars has Luke Skywalker.
Star Trek Has Romulan Planet...Star Wars has Death Star

So Debate futher please.:)

Star Trek, even at its worst, at least tries to have believable dialogue.

Star Wars...well, most of Anakin's lines in Revenge make the darn thing just unwatchable.

Look...I like Star Wars as much as the next guy (the classic trilogy, anyway), BUT--

If I have to hear ONE MORE TIME from a War-Head that Star Trek is dumb, or boring, or unrealistic, ohhhhhhhhh, GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!:klingon:

Where did that one come from? Star Wars can still be enjoyed by adults, its just more action-oriented, while Trek is character-oriented.

I believe Star Trek has shuttles too.

Star Trek Has the Enterprise...Star Wars has X Wing

Phasers and Blasters would be more accurate here, as would Enterprise and Millenium Falcon, although that still isn't an accurate comparison.

As for villains, Star Trek has 11 movies and 6 full TV Series, while Star Wars has 6 movies. Of course its going to have more villains. Oh, and by the way, Palpatine, Boba Fett, Jabba, Maul and Dooku would like to have a word with you.

Mr. Spock vs R2-D2: Aside from both being iconic characters of the franchise, these two have nothing in common.

Star Trek Has Aliens look realistic...Star Wars has Aliens that look stupid.
Star Trek Has Captain Kirk...Star Wars has Luke Skywalker.
Star Trek Has Romulan Planet...Star Wars has Death Star

So, the top standard of aliens is humans with foreheads. I must admit, some of the aliens in Star Wars look retarded, but until we meet aliens, we can't really debate which are realistic or not.

And how is Romulus in the same vein as the Death Star? We hardly see the damn planet, and then a supernova wipes it out.

Exactly. What did we ever do to SW? We just want to fanonize over here in peace.

One of the things I've noticed about my generation IS:

Whenever I bring up Star Wars, it's always they like it, they can connect with that, it's, "Hey, I like Star Wars too, you seen Clone Wars, isn't that AWESOME," etc.

Whenever I bring up Star Trek, their eyes glaze over and they try to look for an excuse to walk away.

NOW--there is hope.

Some kids who previously wouldn't go near Trek see JJ's film, and they come back to me, and BEG my forgiveness, saying that Trek is cool, and they'll learn to love it.

I'm satisfied.

Ironically, Abrams' film is the most Star Wars-ish film in the franchise. :shifty:

^Still, one can't deny that many a kid has been introduced to Trek through the fim--and that many of them are, indeed, catching up on everything else!

I don't think the new film is anything like Star Wars... FFS, they just brought back some of the action that TOS had. TOS had way more action adventure than the modern shows. People seem to be forgetting that.

the difference is this: star wars is fantasy, star trek is science fiction. some people will never understand that

Star Wars eps 4-6 are equal to TOS seaseons 1-3. Solid. Mythic. Legendary. Pure awesome. The last run- while being legitimate- is a little sub-par at times, and attains to those moments of awe.

Ep 1-3 equal the spin-offs. Not bad. Kind of sucky sometimes but coolness is far from uncommon- sometimes reaching awesome. But never really able to join their porgentior to stand upon that lofty mountain summit in the cloud-shrouded heavens.

It's still like comparing apples to pears.

Star Trek and Star Wars were created to entertain and take place in outer space. That's where the similarity ends. They are different things entirely.

The OP reminds me of the folks who used to show up and troll the stardestroyer.net forums back in the day.

It hasn't gotten any more charming since then.

^Depends on who you're talking to, Mr. Cox.

I would LOVE to Live And Let Live, but the War-Heads go outta their way to hate on Trek.

It's disghusting, but it's like an Undeniable Truth Of Life: Star Wars Fans almost invariably have a holier-than-thou attitude towards Trekkers/Trekkies.
