Star Trek: Voyager: Acts of Contrition by Kirsten Beyer

They also posted the blurb, which I didn't recognize:
Admiral Kathryn Janeway has now taken command of the Full Circle Fleet. Her first mission: return to the Delta Quadrant and open diplomatic relations with the Confederacy of the Worlds of the First Quadrant, a civilization whose power rivals that of the Federation. Captain Chakotay knows that his choices could derail the potential alliance. While grateful to the Confederacy Interstellar Fleet for rescuing the Federation starships from an alien armada, the Voyager captain cannot forget the horrors upon which the Confederacy was founded.
More troubling, it appears that several of Voyager’s old adversaries have formed a separate and unlikely pact that is determined to bring down the Confederacy at all costs. Sins of the past haunt the crew members of the Full Circle Fleet as they attempt to chart a course for the future. Will they learn much too late that some sins can never be forgiven . . . or forgotten?

Very meh about that cover really. But it's about the inside, not the outside. And I have no doubt that will be just fine. :)

Interesting cover. So that's what a slipstream corridor looks like. I'm guessing that's a forward airlock on the Saucer's forward edge? This is an odd angle for the ship, it looks very condensed.

Can't wait to get to this.

Presumably. Even if it is a bit different than how it looked on the show.

Warp drive changes appearance in each Trek incarnation, and transwarp corridors changed color (from green to QSD-blue) during the run of the series. Presumably, the visual properties of teh QS tunnel is affected by the technology used to form to it.

Imho, that's the best Star Trek: Voyager novel cover ever! The ship looks good from many perspectives but this is one of the gainliest.

Greatest Voyager cover I've ever seen.

And since we know in-story that Voyager was refitted for slipstream, then maybe we could justify this cover by saying that the external modifications were only minor?

Acts of Contrition should begin right about when DTI: Watching the Clock ends. You think maybe the DTI will tell Janeway about what she did for the Federation's future?

You mean that without "Endgame," the Borg would never have been defeated? You don't need extratemporal knowledge to be able to figure that out. Presumably she already knows.

Moreover, the DTI agents regard Starfleet in general, and Janeway in particular, as being reckless with the timeline. They're not going to pat her shoulder because one temporal violation turned out to have positive results.

This is awesome so soon after her last novel too. Kristen's VOY novels are my favourite novels and have been for a while with a close second being Christopher L. Bennett's Enterprise ones.

This is great news indeed.

I've had a few thoughts about what AoC could entail, are we allowed to discuss them on here or would they count as potential spoilers?

Apologies for bumping the thread without any news - but I actually was wondering if there was any? Not long to go until release now - a little over two months! :D

Also, isn't Shore Leave very soon? I seem to recall there was an excerpt from Protectors read there last year, any chance there'll be one from AoC this year? :)

A few speculations/guesses as to what we could see - pertaining to the blurb and what we've heard so far.

(Just throwing these out there to see what other people think, but could be potential spoilers.)

I can't quite remember but I think Voyager saw some Voth in Protectors, just before they got into the Confederacy?

So I'm also thinking we're going to see some Kazon? Maybe Maj Culluh? Seska's kid?

What about the Hirogen, we might get an update on how they're doing with the holographic technology. Potential for even more deadly hunters?

Although now I'm thinking about it, would the species we'll see be limited to whichever area the Full Cirlce fleet landed in? I mean Voyager covered quite a distance in their first run - at least 10-20k light years.
