I remember that day very, very well...almost every detail. I also remember the advertising campaign for that movie (the TV spots and trailers were the best of the film franchise).

Saw it at one of the first screening in Toronto. Skipped class to go (University, so not a huge crime). I was so psyched -- months of anticipation came to an end! A huge blizzard kicked up while I was in the theatre, and by the time I emerged there was a winter wonderland everywhere, with about 2 feet of snow to trudge through (I didn't have my boots on).

This is my favourite TOS film

when I was just getting into Star Trek as a kid a friend gave me a copy on VHS with TNG All Good Things

This may have been the first Trek film I saw as a small child...I think by accident. My father was watching it, and I joined.

No matter how many times I've seen it, I always pick up some new detail--whether thematic, political, visual, or in dialogue. Really a fantastic film from top to bottom.

It's also aged very well. Notwithstanding their age, the 1701-A sets still have a modern look even today.

Easily my favourite of the TOS films. Loved that this was the twilight of their careers and the aspect of them being sent on one last mission before retiring and moving on. Loved the 'naval' feel to everything. Loved the metallic, tactile look of the Enterprise-A bridge. Adored Christopher Plummer as Chang. Loved the music. I think the limited budget helped keep everything 'grounded' in many respects.

it’s a good movie that holds up well. It’s great that the original crew could go out with such a solid entry. It also has one of the more original storylines for the movie series, as it’s not about encountering an anomaly or massive object, it’s not about time travel, or a villain with a vendetta. It’s a political storyline that tried to use the larger history of the show and movies to have a story that feels like a significant event in the fictional setting.

It's a parallel of real life issues, juggled, yet detached and obfuscated with some "deft vagueness" into its own thing. Like how "The Enteprise Incident" stemmed from "The Pueblo Incident".

STVI was a solid movie to go out on, and of all the Trek movies I saw in the theater I saw VI the most times...

...I also remember during the third theater outing, when someone in the audience - after hearing the Aide-de-camp on screen announce "Ladies and gentlemen, the C in C" - loudly yell out "Music Factory" and a few people giggled in response. Not me, sadly, as I had nary a clue at the time, but a few months later bought the CD after finally hearing one of their more known songs in the radio. (After the Alternative Rock station closed down... their Friday nights with underground "acid house" genre could never be beat and contrary to popular belief, nothing illicit was required to ingest prior to its enjoyment... )

(The female vocals are provided by Martha Wash, who sued because they used a body double for the video... and won. https://www.rollingstone.com/featur...-unknown-singer-of-the-90s-speaks-out-231182/ )
