Has anyone played this yet? It just came out the other day on the App Store.

I downloaded it but I've deleted it already. It's cute but the gameplay is terrible. You pay for the app but then the gameplay is limited unless you fork out more. The typical set-up where healing a crewmember or launching a probe takes half-an-hour unless you pay to speed it up. The missions themselves are yawn-worthy. I was excited to be controlling my team fighting the Borg. But there are no tactics. You have to collect energy crystals which randomly spawn in order to fire your phasers and that's it. Collect crystals, press the fire button.

Like I said, the graphics are cute and you get the chance to build a ship and crew it (even with the TOS regulars!) but I have a feeling it will take centuries unless you're willing to pay as you go.

Oddly enough, I finally succumbed and bought an ipad air last week. Shame this review is so poor! I'll keep my eyes open to see what others say before purchasing. They should do a free demo?

Huh. Thanks for the review Sam I Am. I was going to get this, but I thought I'd come here and see if there were any reviews first. And based on this, I don't think I'm going to be spending my $$ at this time. Too bad, because a *good* Trek iOS game would be welcome!

Yes i bought it and now wish i never paid money for it ,these games that are so stuck behind paywalls should be banned ,i dont mind getting my money's worth and maybing pay for extra stuff to keep the game going ,but when you can't do anything in a game unless you pay for more and try to grind your way is no chance of doing

I'm really sorry to hear how much of a scam this game is. I absolutely love IOS games, but I feel like this in-app purchase stuff is way out of hand. Why can't we just pay 10 bucks for the full game? At least you could actually enjoy the experience.

Glad I watched Joe's review before purchasing. It was on my get list after the holidays.

Another great review from Angry Joe. These paywalls are evil and criminal. I simply refuse to buy any game with microtransactions designed to suck your wallet dry.

It's the new gaming business model now, unfortunately. The single up-front-payment model of the previous decade is on its way out and this new paywall model seems to be a very lucrative way of the future. As long as there are people willing to pay for it, they will keep doing it until something better comes along. This has become more prevalent with the increase of smartphone and tablet usage. Consoles and PC games still seem to be operating under the old way, but that will probably change in the coming years.

I did get the game but I refuse to pay for extra dilithium. It's a long grind to get anywhere, but it's not impossible. I play this in between other tablet games that also follow this model (Modern Combat, Secret Passages, Hobbit KoM), but don't feel quite as restricted by it, so it doesn't seem like as much of a waste to me.

Sorry to revive such a dead thread, but I just downloaded this for my Android tablet the yesterday, and I only played for a few minutes, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I got the game for free and haven't had to pay for anything yet. It did offer me a couple optional extras I could buy, but that was it.

"only played a few minures".........that how the game was made, quick and easy for the first hour, then eventually hit a wall of grind that makes Star Trek onlines grind look like a quick game of XOX. Lol

Yep. Me too. Held out for a few weeks and deleted it. Interesting concept but got very tiresome after a while.

I think I see what you guys mean, it locked me out of the story missions until I got an absolutely ridiculous amount of resources. I got locked out of getting more rooms, and with what I had it was going to take forever to get there. So, yeah, I deleted it.
