Star Trek Tinder

just thought of this today... what would happen and who would hook up if there was a DS9 Tinder? I think it'd be the greatest and worst thing in the history of the series. I'm guessing Jake would've gotten way more play and not have been so awkward if such a thing existed in 1998...

I think it'd be hilarious if Jake was on DS9 Tinder and still couldn't land a date, or at least all his dates ended awkwardly. Dude can't catch a break. We may have the tools, but you still need some talent.

What is
A Tinder?

Yes, what is Tinder or a Tinder?

Tinder is a wonderful and popular dating/hookup app that seems to work for everyone but Jake.

sck when this show was on the air, people actually talked to other people in Reality.
Jakes seemed to do okay. He had various girls at various times.

Online dating as we know it now actually predates TNG. Interesting to note that these days, the two major groups that do online dating the most are those under 25, and those over 50. The former is already a very active and social demographic (and, obviously, society has a bias of catering towards them), but for the over 50 crowd, you've people which much more diverse experiences, and so apps can help match and align that array of interests.

No need to stigmatize or trash the thing if it isn't your cup of tea. People still go out and meet each other, but the way we increasingly communicate online, dating apps were a natural next step.

I've dated people I met in person -- in class, bars, parties, even a grocery store at one point, but also online like facebook, chatrooms, apps, and even comic book message boards. No need to stick to just one route if the technology is there.

Yeah it would change the dynamic between some of the character. I agree that Jake would get some more action as well as Bashir, but really we would just hear about with when Dax would mention a crazy night to Kira the next day. So ultimately it wouldn't affect the show to much, just a few throw away jokes.

Correction: Tinder used to be a wonderful dating/hookup app, but now it's filled with mostly fake profiles and flaky as hell people.

There, there, Jake.

Though the fake profiles and bots are pretty to look at.
