"Star Trek: The Next Generation - The Galaxy Chronicles" - "Sound of the Shiant"

I introduce you to "Star Trek: The Next Generation - The Galaxy Chronicles" - which chronicles the voyages of the first Galaxy-class starship, the USS Galaxy herself. The first installment takes place in early 2360, four years prior to "Encounter at Farpoint." I'm providing a link to the download PDF of this installment, which has illustrated renditions of the ship's main crewmembers and renders of the Galaxy's bridge as done by Rekkert.

Read the first couple of chapters so far and I love the time period you've chosen and focusing on the Galaxy which is kind of a forgotten ship, considering she was the first vessel of arguably one of the most impressive designs Starfleet has ever created. Love it or hate it, I don't think the impact the Galaxy-class has made can be denied.

Post-TOS and pre-TNG I think is inherently a fascinating period to explore, a time both the Federation and the galaxy as a whole were undergoing a period of a transition. When Starfleet was still primarily focused on exploration and before the truly dark days of the Borg, the war with the Klingons and the Dominion.

Happy to offer more in-depth critique if that's what you're looking for.

For now, I'll keep reading to see where you are going with this story and these characters.

Also, terrific job with those character drawings, you don't often get such great visual feedback on OC Trek. Pretty cool.

Sorry for responding so late on this. Well things weren't exactly peaceful in this era either. I've shown a few people a rough version of my next installment, "The Scourge," and I liked what I heard about it from another person. It's not as whimsical as "Sound of the Shiant." This one's a bit more "in the box" as you can say it.

Yeah, I liked the character illustrations. As a continuity touch, they're wearing early TNG uniforms and using early TNG equipment (dustbuster phasers, etc.).

I'm already working on the outline for the third installment, "Fool's Paradise," which is #3 - I'm going to shuffle the crew around a bit in this one as well.
