Star Trek: The Next Generation script

The scripts will contain scenes and/or dialogue that may have ended up being cut from the finished episode. Even the dialogue that makes it to the episode may not match the script 100% exactly if the actor has ad-libbed slightly or a director/producer suggests a change on the day of filming.

If you are looking for dialogue exactly as it aired, here’s a better suggestion: http://www.chakoteya.net/StarTrek/

I love that site though. A lot of those scripts are not what makes it to air. Some lines are different, & even some scenes were cut for production. I like it because you can see the more original thing that was written. In Scotty's episode, he has a whole scene with Troi that got cut, which really changes the vibe of the character imho. In Tom Riker's episode, the original doesn't read nearly as toxic from Will as Frakes played it, but almost the other way around.

Actually that is what I am looking for, to see what actors bring in to the script or how changes can alter the final product for better or worse.
If you are into Frasier, you can buy the original script book at amazon that is different than when it was aired. I found the aired ones to be much tighter and more punchier. Saying that the directors cut for alien and aliens were better than cinema release because they cut out important parts, in my option, but now I am drifting of topic remembering this a Star Trek forum.
May the Picard give you a long and prosperous life.

I remember a moment in the script for "Second Chances" where Riker speaks to Lt. Riker and the stage direction is "light", like he's half-kidding kidding, but Frakes plays it the exact opposite, SUPER pissy. That was an interesting discovery!

That's a great scene, a shame it had to be cut. My friends and I found it hilarious that Troi gives Scotty a friendly hug good-bye in the episode when they hadn't actually met in the aired version!

I have read the scripts on this site countless times.

As pointed out, on occasion, an actor will play a line differently than scripted or will modify a line slightly, most likely to make it sound more natural for them to say. You can find a few lines that are simply better versions than what was scripted, which could be a combination of actor/director or writer/producer input during filming or last-minute rewrites.

For the most part, though, barring deleted lines or scenes, the scripts are identical to the finished episode over 90% of the time.
