Out of curiosity, anyone read this TPB yet? I happened to see a copy of my local Barnes & Noble, but haven't really decided whether to buy it or not. Some aspects seem interesting, but the whole story seems a little too dependent on time travel.
I'm really kind of mixed. While I like alternate history stories, there are some shades of "Yesterday's Enterprise" that seem mixed in.
Set in an alternate 24th century, the Federation has been largely destroyed by the Klingon Empire. Several decades earlier, Kirk failed to stop the conspiracy from assassinating the Federation president and destroying the Khitomer conference, and in the modern day the crew of the ENT-D are mainly resistance fighters against Worf's forces. Picard, prompted by Guinan, tries to undo the past which has apparently been influenced by the evil Braxton from VOY.
Braxton claims that some unknown temporal anomaly is destined to unmake the universe in his future, and that it is somehow connected to the differences in this timeline. The only realities in which there seems to be some hope for survival are those in which the Federation falls to the Klingons or some other power. Of course, he's a crazy bastard and not that reliable.
