Star Trek: The Game?

Does anyone think there will be a game created after the movie? Will it be a crappy cash-in on the movies success (maybe) or will it truly be an original game, independent of the movies fame? First person shooter? action/adventure? rpg? idle speculation sure is fun

I wish we could get a fully 3d rpg/adventure game like oblivion, or fallout, for the Star Trek Universe. Not a MMORPG, but something offline, with above average graphics.

I agree, fallout 3 was amazing, and an rpg would fit very snuggly with the trek universe... plus, doesn't bethesda have rights to the trek franchise anyway?

I would prefer a drake's fortune or tomb raider type puzzle solver third person shooter

Yeah, Bethesda has the rights to it, they just haven't developed a Trek game in-house yet. But no, we won't see a Star Trek movie game tie-in. If there were one, we would have known about it long before now, especially since the movie was originally supposed to have already been released.

ah, i suppose you're right. That's too bad. Maybe a release later on down the road? They just recently released a bourne identity game, and those movies have been around for quite some time.

Perhaps, though I think Paramount might just be looking at Star Trek Online right now... I don't know. What I really want is for Bethesda to tackle a Star Trek RPG, like Fallout or Oblivion, as you said. If Bethesda did it in house, it would be fantastic.

I can see a tie in game coming out eventually. Just because we haven't heard about one doesn't mean there isn't one in development. The movie plot details are a pretty tight secret right now. It's possible they don't want a bunch of game developers in on their secret right now.

I know for a fact there will be total conversion mods of Legacy, if not Bridge Commander as well for the new movie. As for an original game based in Trek, I think Mass Effect would be the best template. Just need to chance the MAKO into a shuttlecraft.
