Star Trek: The Experience celebrates 10 Year Anniversary

:D I was just there last month~ And it was the first time I had gone on the rides despite living in Vegas. I'll have to make sure and stop by on the 4th.

Maybe I'll see you there tomorrow. Drop by, Vegas residents.

I found the Promenade a little too small. Basically, it's just Quark's and a few shops selling tie in merchandise.

The official web site says there are Museum Only passes available, but doesn't say how much they are. I found other references to the cost as being either $14.99 or $19.99. Anyone know what the actual cost is? Either is a little steep considering how small the Museum is.

Am I right in recalling that you can go into the Promenade without paying? I want to drop by Quark's and have a drink, but not if I have to pay to get in.

I have been going to the "Experience" since 1998 and have always felt that it's been one of the best, most electric attractions in Vegas, Star Trek fan or not.

But yes--the darned thing really annoyed me the past two times that I've been there (March and November of 2007). During the shuttle flight in the "Klingon Encounter" you could see these little golden grid lines across the movie screen --seams, I think, for the screen. It was one-hundred per cent distracting. At first I thought it might have just been where I was sitting. But no. Doesn't anyone maintenance there check these things?

The film has been out of focus for some time as well. But geez--when you're sitting in that shuttle...the lights dim...you can hear Geordi and the controller traffic...suddenly you see the long shuttle bay, those barrels and the green mist beyond...that's gotta be one of the best moments in Vegas.

Yep. And if you're a NV resident, the thing about the 4th is that the rides, museum, etc., are FREEEEEEEEEEEE! (With apologies to the Sit and Sleep guy).

Awwwwwwww, Biggshow, there it was, a perfectly nice thread about a wonderful attraction, and you had to go and bring up the Sit-n-Sleep guy... :(

And, to repeat my question: does anyone know the actual cost of the Museum Only ticket?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHH.

I just came back from Vegas TODAY, and I didn't remember about Star Trek: The Experience until I BOARDED MY FLIGHT BACK TO CHICAGO.

Some Trekkie I am. I forever hang my head in dear and utter SHAME.

...someone hold me. please hold me...

Hey, kids,

So here's the report. The bad news is that, at 1:30 anyway, there was an hour and a half wait for the ride. The good news is that there was an hour and a half wait for the ride. That means that there was a $#!tload of people from the Las Vegas area wanting to go to the Experience when the price was right (in this case free). Now, obviously, Cedar Fair would make no money if they did that on a continued basis but apparently the 4000 attendance figure and the accompanying spike in sales in retail and Quark's got some folks in management thinking that lowering the price dramatically for locals might be something to look at for the future. We'll see.

One thing that they are doing on a fairly regular basis now is having guest stars from the various series on hand for autographs and the like. In recent months, I've see Michael Forrest (Apollo), Barbara Luna (Lt. Moreau), and this weekend Laurence Montaigne (Stonn) and Suzie Plakson Kehylar/ Dr. Selar/ Female Q/ Shran's Officer[can't remeber the character's name]). There have been others but, doggonit, I can't remember. I don't think they do enough to promote these appearances but maybe they happen kinda last minute. So I guess what I'm saying is you never know who's going to be around.

It was great seeing the Borg Invasion fully staffed and with tons of people going through. I didn't make it through the Klingon Encounter (see above re hour and a half wait); I had Warp Core Breaches to get through. It was also great seeing some of the original crew who haven't worked there in years (also polishing off their share of Breaches, Romulan Ale, Bloodwine, etc.).

Since the conventional wisdom seems to indicate that this will be the last year (unless people contact TPB and let them know you want it to stick around), I'm planning on many more trips this year. Hope to see a lot of you there.

PS DS9Sega, they do still have Museum Only passes but I can't remember how much. Not much help. Sorry.

Wow,souds like it was alot of fun, I wish I could have gone. I live in the Phoenix area, so it's only a two hour flight or five hour drive (though TBH I'm not a fan of long car rides), but I money is tight to I can't really go on trips right now.

Didn't know The Experience was in danger of closing its doors - that's a shame. Hopefully I can get out to Vegas again before that happens.

hey, can we all get in maximum warp mode and let the powers that be know we want to see trek the experience continue. what would vegas be without a place to quaff a warp core breach or three?

^Well, of course I think that's a great idea. See the contact information I posted above for some of the various PTB and also:

For those of you who are NV residents, tell them how much you appreciated the free day. Urge them to change the pricing policy for you. Tell them you'd bring more friends if YOU got in cheaper. That sort of thing.

See you all at Quark's.

Of course, the most important vote is when you vote with your $$$ by buying a ticket, eating lunch at Quark's (be sure to order the onion rings!), and maybe pick up a souvenir too! I make it a point to go to The Experience (almost) every time I'm in Vegas.

I've been there twice and I LOVED the food at Quark's...and loved the rides (both of them).

Hope to still see it around in the future, and if they can keep it well-maintained and decently staffed, that would be great.
