Star Trek: The Experience behind the scenes book?

I'm goin' back next weekend! I had my first trip there for Dayton & Kevin's book signing, so I got to experience the transporter once as a gullible newbie, and I'll get to do it again knowing the secret. It'll still be just as amazing, though.

And my husband hasn't been assimilated by the Borg yet. We'll see if he screams as loudly as I did.

I always thought I would have time to go and see this, but it was not to be. I would love a behind the scenes book.

I don't see out of one eye so the three-D part of the Borg ride did nothing for me and I spent most of the time on the shuttle ride really hoping I wasn't going to throw up and I had even prepared myself by taking Dramamin. I suffer from pretty bad motion sickness. But aside from that how was the play, Mrs Lincoln?

But the backstage tour was a LOT of fun. Another time I went I met KRAD and Terri. Every time I went to Vegas I managed to get a way for a bit and visit the Museum and store. I'm sorry to see it go. Not as sorry as a friend of mine who was planning on getting married there next year though.

EDIT: If you are looking for something else geeky to do in Vegas there's also The Atomic Testing Museum. They did a lot of testing there during the cold war and it's all documented here.

Damn, I was hoping maybe it would be close to my birthday on the 12 so that I could try to convince my family to take me there.

If you take the behind the scenes tour they show you exactly how the transporter effect is achieved. It's fantastic!

Well, considering where one of the Borg probes hits ya, I'd be concerned if he didn't scream at least a little....

*That* explains the look on your face in that photo!!

There will be a eulogy for the Experience in the next issue of Star Trek Magazine (not the one about to hit stores, but the one out mid-late October) with both formal and informal tributes. I'm still interested in doing something more in the not-too-distant future - but not heard from anyone on here...!

I'm still in talks with my friends at the Experience. We're still going to put together that round table at some point in the near future, probably within a month of the closing.

Drop me a line once you do. I think some people spoke with Jeff Schnaufer for the STM "formal" piece. May I suggest, if you're going to do that pooling of reminiscences, that (with everyone's agreement) you record the conversation: many people find it far easier to chat about stuff than be formally interviewed or try to write it out.

I was talking with someone who previously worked at STTE about doing a video tribute, then he brought up this idea of the book and possibly packaging them together; I didnt realized you guys were working on it together.

Unfortunately I wasnt able to get approval to film the tribute, if you were wondering. It sounded promising in the beginning and then it went down hill, then I actually heard from someone in the CBS licensing department saying they liked the idea and would let me know; that was in July, he never got back with me.
