The Greatest and most Cannon Star Trek Gaming title ever to be made.
A professional wouldn't harp on "canon", and even if he did, he'd at least use and spell the term correctly.
This isn't a real game. It's just a fanboy made mod.
As the developer of the game, let me clear this up.
Supremacy is not a mod--it is an entirely new game developed from the ground up. You are partially correct in that the game is a fan-based project. However, I have never harped on "canon", and the
Supremacy website was developed and maintained by someone else in our community. Though its content is largely accurate, it does have a bit of a "fanboy" touch. Considering the author maintains the site voluntarily (and has been very supportive of the project), I'm willing to put up with it

.
The strong resemblance to Master of Orion 3 doesn't really help matters either.
I'm not sure what resemblance you see between Supremacy and MoO3. The game is largely inspired by
Birth of the Federation. I have played MoO3, and I cannot see any significant similarities. Like the previous MoO games, MoO3 involved colonization at the planet level, whereas Supremacy (like BotF) involves colonization at the star system level. The MoO games had star maps interconnected by starlanes, whereas Supremacy and BotF use a grid. The only similarity I can see is the research matrix, which appears similar in presentation.
If anyone is interested in contributing to the game, or reporting any bugs or feature requests, I encourage you to visit our forums at
http://www.botf2.star-trek-games.com/. Pre-release versions are consistently made available for download, though the game is still early in development. I think you will be impressed with the quality of the game as something above and beyond what you would expect to see from a fan production. Just because it isn't being produced by a full team at a game studio doesn't mean
Supremacy can't be a great game. I'm a professional software engineer outside of my work on this project, and we have a lot of talent in our community providing the creative content. Given the lackluster commercial Trek titles of late, I would hope the project would be better received. I suppose, considering that many fan-based titles fall through, I suppose I can understand the relative lack of interest (though it is disappointing).
