Could it be the Gorn Insectoids? They could be using the USS Peregrine crew as ‘birthing sacks’… just like in that film ‘Aliens’!

I hope it's simply a deranged Starfleet Captain who's gone space bananas. Humans make the scariest monsters.

When I give this episode a score, I'm going to give it an extra point just for the title.

Peregrine seems to be NCC-1549, and it's Sombra class, but built with the same parts as the Connie (?!?!?!) XD

I knew they were dead the moment they were introduced.

    And not only them!

The hexagons in their Predator Vision (TM) suggests TOS eyes - perhaps they are hidden at this early stage and only pop out in the adults :D

Hemmer!!!!!!!!!! NO!!! So does this mean with Enterprise needing a new Chief Engineer, Scotty will be Introduced?

Won't lie. Losing Hemmer so soon was both shocking and a huge disappointment but it doesn't affect my respect for what the episode tried to do. I so wanted him to hang on for at least a few seasons before Scotty is assigned as Chief Engineer, but I guess if he had to go out in Season 1 this was as noble and fitting an end as any.

The Gorn must lose most or all of their tails by full maturity and become bipeds. And yeah, I side with the theory that their eyes become more compound as they reach adulthood.

I had a bad feeling about Hemmer this episode for some reason.
