Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Display question for everyone. I have mine all displayed on a gigantic bookcase but need to make room to fit my Exo 6 figures. Does anyone know of any good acrylic risers ? There’s lots of room above the models I could take advantage of. Want something where I could display on the shelf and then use a riser to create a 2nd or 3rd tier above.

Looking at the shelves, they seem to be the same design as my IKEA "Billy"s. Now IKEA do sell extra shelves - both as single shelves you can add in and also ones you can add on top with the same kind of spacing you have now (I have these on my sitting room book cases) but in limited colours. Deploying some of the single shelves would allow you adjust the shelf spacing to be be appropriate for displayed items.

I have to admit that I am in the UK and have no idea about IKEA in the USA.

Glad I don't have to dust these...

Thanks. We do have IKEA & I have one not too far away from me. I’ll have to look into this.

and yes the dusting is a nightmare. It really needs it now but I’m procrastinating while I try to solution this. No sense in moving everything twice.

My solution to dust was a perspex sheet and some magnetic tape. Easy to take on and off, lets very little dust in even if only secured on two sides, no frames to get in the way, and relatively cheap to do.

To save on dusting, get cabinets with doors. Most IKEA units are configurable with glass doors, including Billy. They also have a range of glass display cabinets called Blåliden.

Personally I use the Kallax units with different inserts. They are very versatile and customisable. And inexpensive. I also bought some cheap perspex risers from Amazon to go with them.

But I don't have a massive collection and generally try to rotate things to keep the display fresh, so that provides an opportunity to keep things clean.

To anyone who bought that D% tanker when it was available just before xmas, has yours been shipped yet? It's been about 3 weeks. I know both MR, and Eaglemoss before them, had an annoyingly long fulfillment period, like around a month (which is not the case with Real Merch, BTW), but I was just curious.

Haven't ordered that one specifically but I have made many orders with Master Replicas, and all of them have turned up eventually... though for some of them it has taken several weeks if not a couple of months. Some models do have longer turnarounds than others, and the general trend has been for them to take longer and longer as easily accessible stocks dwindle.

Looks like Real Merch is having a sale. Get 7 ships for $40 USD. Now, admittedly, a lot of it as low-demand stuff that they're probably desperate to unload, but this could be a good way to get a few alien ships in your "wouldn't mind" category.

I will say that RM's customer service has been far better than MR's. They ship stuff out much quicker and there's no tariffs at the post office, which means stuff typically gets delivered to my door. Definitely worth checking out.

I only find 4 that I still kinda want...

Yeah, MR has become slower and slower the last few months. They used to ship about 10-14 days after an order. Now it’s more like 4-8 weeks.

And the customer service dept. has gotten a bit more snippy than they used to be. The magazines I’m waiting on are probably the last thing I buy from them. Not out of anger or anything but there really isn’t anything I want and the wait times have become just too much.

Yeah, I saw on their Xitter feed that customers are getting restless because it doesn’t seem MR has shipped anything for weeks.

I’m pretty much done as well, I think I have all the Trek stuff I wanted from them, unless any of the small sized magazines I’m missing materialize, but I get the sense whatever company printed those wrote them off into a dumpster.

It sometimes takes a few days to get through US Customs. I don’t believe it has anything to do with the contents, I think it’s more related to how busy they are. They’re loaded into an aircraft container in the UK, and I assume those occasionally sit forlorn before being attended to in the US.

MR tweeted out that all of the final items are shipping out of China, while there may be some restocks there are no more unreleased Trek ships to be had. With regard to Dresselhaus, I read somewhere that MR thought they possibly had that one because they found the boxes for them, but it turns out the ships were never actually produced. I guess that makes sense, you’d need the boxes on hand to pack the models into once they’re manufactured.

Its adventurous journey so far according to tracking:

First: Item received, Received & processed, Departed, Item received, Shipment information uploaded
Then: awaiting shipment (NL), En route to distribution center (NL), received and processed, Departure to country of destination, Carrier Prealert, Package received at distribution center (UK), Received & processed (UK), Processing completed at origin (UK)
Later: Processed outbound mail center, Departed Terminal, Processed at transit facility (UK)
Days later: Departure to destination country, Held at customs, Arrival in country, Clearance Processing.
Next day: Processed at parcel center, Departed from delivering terminal at destination, Processed at local distribution center

So it went from the UK to NL and then back to the UK before heading to its destination? Or is everything stored in the NL while MR is in the UK?
And since it kept getting processed and departed again after being held at customs, I guess it's gonna be ok? :D
Tracking also lists is as a letter with required signature

As it's the last day of the sale, my recommendation is to just 3 you don't have, whether you like 'em or not.

In other news, I reached out regarding my D5 tanker order on Dec 15 and got this response:

I'm so sorry for the delay on your order! Unfortunately the stock is delayed at the moment, but the team are working on it now, and it shouldn't be much longer!

Guess I'm still waiting.
