Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Easy in and done this week, got the Cravic ship and the Son'a Battleship to boot, just a week after I asked about it. Hopefully it'll ship faster than my previous order with the Scorpion, which still hasn't actually shipped because I thought 'I'll give one of those Qraftworks things a go, pad out the order a little, it's only a fiver'...

That friggin’ Titan is still in stock however.

I learned long ago that with collectables and eBay and everything that once you buy something, put the cost out of your mind, delete the saved search, stop looking, otherwise you'll go mad with regret. You pay your money, you take your chance. (I know that this is a slightly different situation, where you're not just watching one thing, it's the whole line and you're having the one thing pushed at you, but still.)

A 12-day advent calendar is coming that includes one shuttlecraft model - the Type-15 shuttlepod 02. $150 on pre-order. Oof.

$150 for that lot of tat? And I hope you drink, because half of that tat is drink related.

I'm largely kidding, with a twinge of annoyance - basically my little joke for this thread, which admittedly, probably only amuses me.

It is kinda funny that a ship I paid too much for is the only one that was super in demand, came in an out-of-stock at MR several times with very quick sell-outs, seemed like it was never coming back, did come back and now is remaining in stock for weeks.

September coupon code is out.

It’s 20% off when you buy 2 or more ships.

They also just sent out a 24 hour BOGOF offer on around two dozen models.

Yeah, I just saw the BOGO offer. Not a thing there I’m interested in. Too bad.
Me, either.

That September 20% coupon would have been nice on Friday, but I couldn’t chance selling out ofYosemites by waiting. I actually doubt I buy two ships in the same drop anytime this month.

Yeah, it would need to be something really cool for me to try and grab a second ship and enter the September code when they do the E-F next week.

I got the Mirror Shenzhou and OV-165

interesting fact about the Mirror Shenzhou, it is accurate to the show. It does have a giant terran Empire delta on the saucer, it's just really hard to make out because of the camera angles (not the lighting) we get of the ship.

Glad I checked in on today's drop, Friendship-1 was on my list, but I had somehow missed MR mentioning it was part of this drop. Unfortunately, there wasn't really anything else I wanted plus I got panicky it would sell out, so didn't use my coupon.

edit: did they ever say what was in Friday’s drop, I don’t recall seeing an email, or is the next drop the 15th?

You know, you’re right. No word on a drop for tomorrow. Hmmmm

On 3 September they tweeted that a drop on 8 September would include:

Avantine NYCC Exclusive x 48 Units
Borg Sphere x 120 Units
158 Excelsior Prototype Mk x 400 Units
Galactica (Classic) - Viper Mk I x 39 Units
U.S.S Hiawatha x 300 Units
Enterprise A x 400 Units
Akira Class XL x 140 Units
Excelsior Class XL x 298 Units

UPDATE: They've just confirmed on Twitter this is still scheduled for tomorrow.

There's also a flash drop tonight (7 September) for:

Star Trek GOLD U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701-D XL x 294 units
U.S.S. Prometheus XL x 402 Units

Eaglemoss confirmed over 1300 Enterprise F’s will go live next Friday. But they won’t actually ship until October 12th. As they are waiting for them to be delivered to their warehouses.

sounds like that’s gonna be the deal for most of the stuff releasing on the 15th. Including the XL 1701-E and XL Voyager.

so basically order now to ensure delivery around the last week of October or first week in November. That’s kinda rough.

Normally, you'd think they'd take some time to catch up on the shipping for which they're chronically behind anymore, but taking money now for something to be released later likely means they're having cashflow issues.

Master Replicas has both the Cravic Warship and the Pralor Warship. I hadn't realised that until now.
Note that the Pralor Warship is in more limited numbers (500, which is probably more than enough to satisfy anyone who actually wants one), so it's supposed to be some kind of charity-associated special release. It's unclear to me if that means it's just going to cost more, or if there will be a different mechanism than the standard ordering process.

Here’s Friday’s drop:

Starfleet Academy Flight Training Craft
Borg Queen's Ship
U.S.S. Equinox
Klingon Raptor
Federation Attack Fighter
Smuggler's Ship
Jem'Hadar Battlecruiser
Nausicaan Fighter
Baran's Raider

Tholian Ship (22nd Century)
Species 8472 Bioship
Irina's Racing Ship
Merchantman
Vulcan T'Pau
Klingon bird-of-prey (22nd century)

XL: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-E
U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-F (Refit)
Klingon Batlh Class
United Earth Sarajevo

there’s also a flash drop on Wednesday, with all but like 2-3 of the BSG ships and the following Trek ones (looks like some of the later shuttle sets are starting to show up):

NX Shuttlepod 1
Section 31 Drone Fighter
Jem'Hadar Battlecruiser
Shuttle Set 3: Travel Pod, Type 11, Argo, Workbee
Son'a Collector
XL: U.S.S. Shenzhou
U.S.S. Defiant NX-74205 (Defiant Class)
Federation Holoship

Starfleet Tug (Helios Class)
Shuttle Set 8: Vulcan, Xindi Insectoid, Ferengi, Klingon Toron class
Dedication Plaque: U.S.S. Defiant NCC-74205

What is the quality of the XL Runabout? Is it akin to that of the XL Equinox, which feels more like a toy than an model? Or is it more solid?

IIRC, it was pretty good but, (and it's been a while since I looked at it) for some odd reason, it was missing some hull grid details. I believe you can probably find some comments about it up-thread.
