Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Honestly, it's kind of funny that Paramount has managed to burn themselves twice on the maybe five original FJ things left in the Technical Manual with some utility to modern Trek.

I don't know how to put this delicately. But if the production staff were as ignorant of Star Trek as fans often accuse them of being, this would never have happened.

I mean, is there anyone under, what? 40? Who even knows what that ship is? And would want it in their Star Trek show? That can only be a fanboy move right there. (And I salute you!)

It blows my mind. First Contact had to struggle with using off the shelf models for their sets with three of the most famous starships in sci fi history. (Sorry, Ent B and C.) . But here comes Picard and they have multiple Federation class ships laying around? Where do you even GET those?!? That can't be a case of "We just went down to Hobby Lobby and grabbed the things that said Star Trek. We had to send back a Millennium Falcon we bought by mistake. We really didn't know what we were doing."

You can see the faint striping texture on the surface of some of the models - it's particularly visible on the Intrepid - that wasn't hidden by the paint. That's tell-tale 3D printing. I'm sure there are a ton of dreadnaught meshes out there that they ran through a printer and slapped a coat of gold paint on them. It's not like someone did a physical kitbash with existing Connie parts. The Federation is too structurally different in almost every measurable way, with the possible exception of the warp nacelles, but even those look different here too. I am 99% positive that, whomever put these models together, knew exactly what they were supposed to be. They made three of them, FFS!

I know you posted this over a week ago, but the countdown seems to be counting down to 24/02/2023 as it's currently on 15 (days) 15 (hours) and x minutes and x seconds.

I saw a message from Ben Robinson a few days ago on Twitter that said (I paraphrase) they still aren't 100% ready to go, so pushed back the launch again, from tomorrow (01/03/2023) till a few weeks after.

It now looks the site will go live (fingers crossed) on 14/03/2023.

I picked up Reliant recently via Amazon and hoping Pegasus (from BSG), Melbourne and XL Stargazer are avaliable through Master Replicas.

he also said it looks like they have a bit of everything so that could be good news when it comes to some of the newer stuff that had only been released for a short time or had not yet been released before Eaglemoss went belly up.

I'm hoping for a couple of the store exclusives and a few other things I missed, but I have the feeling that MR is going to mostly be a disappointing dump of years old stuff (that folks are forgetting Eaglemoss was having trouble practically giving away at the end) with a few rare new/unreleased things at exorbitant prices.

I can only hope that includes those of us in Canada.

Hooboy, it's gonna be a freaking zoo on that site, opening day. Hope they don't crash or anything. (I also hope they do something about stuff not taking a month to ship anymore).

After dropping it accidentally, I modified the USS Centaur model based on the Centaur-class saucer separation from the Star Trek: Resurgence comic. The parts add, there’s no weird gap.

So, if the photon pod with warp nacelles was flying around, does it have its own impulse engines and battle-bridge somewhere? The pictures of the comic seem to intentionally avoid certain angles.

I would think it'd be more preferable for the saucer to separate from the lower assembly, even though it'd be limited to impulse power until someone rescued it.

Strangely enough, on the drive into school this morning, my son was showing me orthos of a starship he found online that was a photon pod with warp engines and a bridge module on top.

Lots of details here. Sale starts on Sunday.

and yay…the two I want are there.

I feel like real-merch has had all of these on their website in the past month, so not seeing anything particularly surprising. Hopefully, we'll see one or two new things that were in transit from China and actually never saw release from Eaglemoss - but maybe things were so dire at the end there wasn't anything coming.

I do like the staggered release, even though the only three I still want are in the first wave (of course).

Yeah, staggering the release is a fantastic idea. Curious how they decided to release which ones at what time.

I’m sure I won’t be the only madman refreshing the site as that countdown timer is about to expire.

gotta grab the Titan and Cerritos.
