Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

It wasn't cheap, but I finally decided to shell out on eBay last week and got the refit Enterprise and the Delta flyer. They were coming from California and according to tracking, they just cleared Canadian customs the other day, so hopefully they should arrive within a week or so.

I hadn't had much interest in the refit for a while, because I already have the Enterprise-A, which is practically the same ship, albeit with a different color, but since I have every other Enterprise and "hero" ship (apart from the specials), I figured it was time. Plus, I wanted to read what the magazines say about each of them.

(Of course, with my luck, they'll probably end up re-releasing them anyway, like they did with all the other Enterprises).

Still, I'm looking forward to having these two.

I don't mean to make two consecutive posts, but no one seems to have had anything to post in the past 48 hours, and I really wanted to talk about this:

The good news is my Delta Flyer and refit Enterprise showed up this morning, much earlier than I expected.

The bad news is I got a nasty surprise when the mail lady said I had to pay an addition $18 CDN because of this trade war going on. Obviously this thread isn't the appropriate place to talk about politics, but suffice it to say, if I have to pay a tariff on top of the item AND shipping, I won't be ordering any more items from the US until this blows over.

On a lighter note, I'm quite happy with both models. The refit is pretty much identical to the Enterprise-A, apart from the color (which is probably why I wasn't in a hurry to get it for some time). I'm pretty sure they used the same molds, just as they did with the Reliant and Bozeman. I also notice the blue part of the nacelles is different and glows more than the "A", when held up to light. I can now proudly say, at long last, I have all the non-special Enterprises from the set. (First world problems, I know). :rommie:

I think I'm a little more excited about the Flyer. It's a nice, graceful looking model, pretty close to what was seen on-screen, I think. Looking at it, I'm reminded how unnecessarily weird that front window is. I'd be interested to as Rick Sternbach what the deal with that thing was. I also noticed a bit of a duck bill look from certain angles, when you hold it at eye level. It's a fun ship to just "zoom" around a bit, I'm not too proud to admit.

Not sure what ship I'm excited to get next. Probably the Enterprise-F, when it arrives. I haven't gotten many TOS-era ships but I'll probably get the Bonaventure and the 23rd century Tholian ship. Maybe the prototype Voyager and the Probert Enterprise, but I'm in no hurry with those. There's still quite a few on my wish list that have yet to be announced.

It’s a healthy attitude to wait with the purchase, because then you can watch the relevant model reviews before committing.

Well, I'm quite happy with both ships. My only regret was the additional pound of flesh required upon delivery.

Actually, I think I tend to be more forgiving of ships than most. I know a lot of people had problems with the Enterprise-C, and I do see some of the flaws (i.e. no impulse drive), but I was just so pleased to get one, that they didn't bother me. I still like holding that one and looking at it. (I do agree that the Negh'Var is quite a lemon, though).

I think the one thing I'd like most right now is another binder. The one I have now is holding between a third to half of the 74 magazines I currently have, but it's still quite a lot. Unfortunately, with shipping, binders are sometimes more expensive than models. (It's a piece of cardboard, for goodness sake!)

Any idea if we'll ever get the Aegis from Star Trek: Bridge Crew?
since that's kelvin timeline and they're relegated to specials which only come about every 3-4 months and share real estate with the rest of franchise, i'm gonna go with never.

I also love that one, and am very glad I picked it up when I did! :)

Wasn't it announced recently that the Kelvin-verse ships could now be incorporated into the main line?

massive improvement on the original small Defiant.

I for one like(d) the original version of her.

Eaglemoss cannot release new Kelvin ships in the main line but they are allowed to release them in standard size. Latest status was that Eaglemoss is thinking about a bundle of four standard size starfleet ships from the new movies.

Thanks for the clarification. I just got a bit mixed up on the details.

there was also talk of a set of kelvin shuttles (military shuttle, takayama-type, USS kelvin medical shuttle, moore-type shuttle), but it's been a while.

So weird thing today. I got my usual email telling me that the Yeager and Romulan Science Ship are on their way, along with the announcement of the XL Ringship Enterprise. Then I got an email saying the XL Defiant was on its way! Has anyone seen this? I thought it was just recently announced and it's not even on the website yet available for individual purchase. I'm assuming this was an error?

at least one person on the FB fan group also got a shipping notification and trekcore tweeted photos indicating they already have theirs. so i’m going with (and bear with me this may be hard to believe) eaglemoss sent out product early.

less shocking, those fan groupers are already spotting some hilarious errors in those trekcore photos: the warp engine housings incorrectly replicate a missing grille from the studio model as it appeared (and was photographed) at the christie's auction.
