Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

I was charged the day I pre-ordered it, every time I've pre-ordered something from Eaglemoss I've ben charged immediately.

They usually do a pending transaction but don’t settle and it drops off after a few days. Then when they’re actually shipping it’ll go pending again & actually settle. I know other countries have it setup different but I thought this was standard for US preorders. Are you using a CC or Paypal ?

In other news, my CC just got charged $59.95 this morning. Could it be they're FINALLY sending the XL Enterprise-E out to subscribers?!? It's too early for either the K-7 or the Shenzhou (in the US) so I'm thinking...

Sounds like the right price point for the jumbo. Too expensive for K7 & Shenzou should just have been a $9.95 charge (if you subscribed).

Got my email confirmation that the Aventine did ship & should be here sometime between Sat & Tues.

You know, if there’s no further Kelvin timeline movie, how long will Ben wait until giving us the new Enterprise-A?

Depends on the demand, I would think. Discovery is in the forefront of people's minds now, which is what his team appears to be focusing on at the moment. There doesn't seem to be any movement on the feature film front, so I don't think it's likely they'll go after it until the fourth one starts growing legs (if ever).

Honestly, I'm not too terribly broken up about it, personally. I really don't like the A's proportions and angles - even worse, in many respects, to the original, IMO.

Yep, that too. It's all about what they think will sell. And, considering they're required by license to make all-XL-sized versions of the Abramsverse ships, they will also necessarily demand a larger price tag that most people probably wouldn't open their wallets for. The smaller ships are simply more cost-friendly. So, yeah, I don't see either NuEnt variant happening right now.

A shame, as I would like to have seen them do smaller versions of the Abrams background ships like the Armstrong, Mayflower, Kobayashi Maru, Klingon "Warbird" and the like.

Problem is we’ll probably never get not only the nuEnt-A but also Beyond’s Enterprise.

didn't ben announce both the beyond enterprise and klingon warbird specials for release in 2018 after the ring ship enterprise? i feel like if those were cancelled, we'd know by now since the ring ship is just a month or two out now.

there's also supposed to be a kelvin timeline shuttle set coming.

Did he? Okay, well that's good then. Don't get me wrong, I really do want this line to succeed despite Pennsylvania's ineptitude and determination to give greater Eaglemoss a permanent black eye. If they think they can do well with the Beyond-E and E-A, more power to them. I just don't think they're a hot topic overall, in the same way that Discovery is right now. The good news is, if there are no more movies for a while, it will give them time to catch up with those stragglers. :)

The charge has never dropped off, money came out and that was that. I always use a CC when pre-ordering.

i have no idea how their business model even works or how they make a profit with such obscure releases. if they think they can break even producing the ring ship (which i'm not even buying), then they must feel at least a little better about their prospects with the beyond enterprise and klingon warbird (which i will be buying with gusto), since those are a little more recognizable.

So I've decided to cancel my subscription after I receive my back-ordered Titan magazine. Since I can easily buy my missing ships from elsewhere and there are various online sources doing a better job than PA, I can switch and only pay a few dollars more for each ship. Plus, can't I restart my subscription later at whatever point the US issues are up to?

Theoretically, yes. And it is good that you plan to keep up with the line on your own. Backfilling missing older issues has been a total impossibility for them in my experience, forcing me to backfill on my own via Amazon or eBay after they neglected to send things out that were previously "out of stock". In short, don't count on the Pennsyltucky fuckwits to go the extra mile to get it right if you ever come back to the fold. There will likely be some hiccups before getting everything back in sync.

I’ve been considering backfilling my missing issues 98 & 99 but just haven’t decided yet.

Have you ever received any back issues? I don’t really want to try & sell duplicates if they do come. I also heard a horror story regarding someone who called them and asked to skip a regular issue they had bought elsewhere.

Thank you. I'm going to have to wait until someone, if anyone, releases a smaller sized Discovery, one for a lower price.
This may not necessarily happen. In a NYCC interview on the new line, Ben Robinson specifically said they went with a larger design due to the fact that anything smaller would make the nacelles way too fragile. This sounds like a direct reference to how the Enterprise-J turned out with the needle-thin nacelles that many have complained about being broken prior to delivery. They probably didn't want to make that mistake again with a hero ship like Discovery, and anyone else who tries it (Playmates, QMX, etc.) will suffer a similar fate of overly-weak nacelle modules.

In fact, I suspect that the Eaglemoss model will be the smallest version of the ship we'll ever see, to be honest.

I'm sorry for the wording above. I meant to say a smaller one by Eaglemoss or one for a lower price. Something like Hot Wheels when they've done the Trek ships.

Rapid prototyping technology and manufacturers focused on small (1,000ish unit) batches.

I, for one, am loving all the obscure ships they're pushing out. True deep cuts for true fans (not that I'm claiming to be a proper scotsman here). I'm about 30 more issues away from needing a 2nd shelf.

Though, to be fair, I looked at the 120ish pieces on my current shelf and realized I've probably dropped $2,500 on this stuff (over years, mind you). So I totally understand people who don't want any more. At some point the cost gets absurd.

Do you have a link to this? Been mulling the same decision as the OP.
